The rotocast resin Bun Bun figures sit upon a skull adorned with plastic mushrooms, synthetic grass, and wood chips. Not to mention the glass eyes set within each Bun Bun's head!

Bun Bun is a sweet little friend that smells like marshmallows and gives you a tooth ache when you love him too much. He likes to play jokes on you and does stuff when you're not looking. You have to keep your eye on him. When it comes down to it, you'll always have a friend for life.

Bun Bun was created by PA artist Brent Nolasco. Bun Buns are 6" two-part, rotocast, purple/blue resin figures with glass eyes. The heads articulate 360 degrees. Bun Bun is 100% hand painted by Brent Nolasco and cast in the USA by We Are Not Toys.

SubUrban Vinyl Designer Con 2014 Exclusives

This year, SubUrban Vinyl is making it's way out west for Designer Con 2014. At Booth #515, SubUrban Vinyl is going to have a few more exclusives to add to the list, including Brent Nolasco's latest edition of his Hunter figure, Swamp Thing. With a small edition of 3 pieces, each 8" hand painted piece is going to be priced at $120.

In addition to the awesome figure, SubUrban Vinyl will also have an exclusive print from Jon-Paul Kaiser, titled "Ripper". Limited to just 50 pieces, this 18" x 24" screen printed print is going to be priced at $70 each. Jon-Paul Kaiser is also going to be making the trip out west from the UK and will be on hand for a signing.

Brent Nolasco: Over Saturated & Under Appreciated

Brent Nolasco's new "Over Saturated & Under Appreciated" project will debut at the Tenacious Toys booth (#2878) at the 2010 New York Comic-Con, October 8-10.

NEW YORK, NY (October 7, 2010)

Brent Nolasco's newest line of artworks is called "Over Saturated & Under Appreciated". The project uses mass-produced found objects as a basis for Brent's off-kilter art. Brent has wanted to do this project for a long time, and recently acquired some skulls mass-produced by Martha Stewart, giving him the perfect starting point. This new direction gives Brent the opportunity to put his spin on pop culture icons and symbols.

The beginnings of this project- the skulls- will be for sale at the Tenacious Toys NYCC booth #2878 in The Cultyard. A follow-up piece incorporating a gun and a skull will also be on display.

Nolasco / Blamo Project Unveiling at NYCC 2010

The Brent Nolasco / Blamo Project will be introduced at the Tenacious Toys booth (#2878) at the 2010 New York Comic-Con, October 8-10.

The Nolasco / Blamo resin project is a way for Brent to express himself and to have a non-conventional release. Brent wanted the process of making figures and products to be more of a fine art than mass production. He wanted a more "hands on" approach to making his next figure, like how resin figures were first done by artists.

Brent first sculpted this figure by hand. It's something he had never done before. The figure consists of 6 pieces that are hand casted separately and then put together.  Each piece is hand painted by Brent so there is slight variation in each paint job.  

Each piece is very unique and has it's own characteristics that set them apart from one another. Brent likes that they are more organic and free-formed than pieces from a factory which pumps out products for the masses. It makes each release more personal.  

The runs on these upcoming figures are going to be limited quantities. Some will be just "one-offs". Brent is looking to do some sculpting and other interesting things with these figures to keep the ideas fresh.

The 3D Canvas: Custom Toy Show at Terminal22 in Oakland, CA

Oakland plays by its own rules. And Oakland’s new Terminal22 art gallery is giving artists a chance to do just that: operate within their own realm, on their own terms. With their first group show consisting entirely of altered skate decks, the non-traditional backgrounds seen at Terminal22 remove pieces from the expectations of traditional canvas art and allow works to express themselves through an entirely different set of associations.

The upcoming ‘3D Canvas’ show will continue to push that envelope even further by showing dozens of custom urban vinyls and works related to the field. It will be the first of its kind in the East Bay and will begin by answering the question ‘what is urban vinyl?’ Urban vinyl relates to the quickly growing custom toy realm; blank vinyl toys used as a starting point for artists when creating their own original pieces. From Mind to Matter: Nolasco & Nemo at ToyQube

Two extremely talented artists showed at ToyQube last night: Brent Nolasco and Nemo. Brent's customs have been gracing blogs, websites and shows all over the world. His signature colorful-yet-dark style can be recognized a mile away. Nemo is a NYC-based sculptor who works in a variety of mediums (media?). His sculpting is second-to-none. Check out the Joe Pesci & James Gandolfini sculpts. Amazing. Looks for his name to start popping up a lot more in the future.
