#Maythe4thSG Custom Stormtrooper Helmet Show in Singapore to Benefit Charity

by
May the 4th is known worldwide as a day when we celebrate all that is great about Star Wars. In Singapore, they are throwing a custom show using the 5" Stormtrooper helmet by Imagine Nation Design Studios in the Philippines as a base for customs. Sales will benefit the Willing Hearts charity.

Singapore – 23 April 2014 – May The Fourth Be With You. Maythe4th.SG presents Singapore’s first fan-driven Star Wars Day – May The 4th SG

May The 4th SG is the inaugural celebration of the legendary film series, books, toys and culture of Star Wars, conceived out of the fervent passion and love a group of Star Wars fans share for the epic film series. By fans for the fans, May The 4th SG presents a myriad of activities including Star Wars documentary screening and special appearances by 501st Legion Singapore Garrison and FightSaber Singapore.

Expect nothing short of epic from the programme line-up that will reminiscence, revive and honour the 37 year-old film series. The line-up includes a display of Star Wars toys by Hasbro Singapore, “Once-Upon-A-Stormtrooper” fan fiction contest, storytelling and ‘live’ doodling sessions by the artists from Band of Doodlers, the very first documentary screening in Singapore of Plastic Galaxy: A History of Star Wars Toys by Brian Stillman, X-Wing Miniatures tabletop game demo, workshops and activities for kids and fanatics.

Attendees will also be treated to a performance and workshop session by FightSaber Singapore, South East Asia’s premier lightsaber performance troupe, and the exclusive sale of custom stormtrooper helmets by local and overseas artists where all proceeds from sale of the helmets will go towards helping the less privileged.

Catherine Lim, brand manager of Hasbro Singapore says, “I am definitely bringing my kids to support the event.” Event organisers from Maythe4th.SG, Hansen Khoo and Jeffrey Koh of FLABSLAB, promise that audiences will be seeing some Star Wars items for the first time at the event and this is just a lead-up to a bigger and highly anticipated event in 2015 for the new Star Wars movie in the second half of 2015.

Supported by the National Library Board of Singapore, May The 4th will be held at the Jurong Regional Library on May 4th 2014, Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm. The opening ceremony will see 501st Legion Singapore Garrison, the largest garrison in South East Asia, grace the grounds in welcoming guests to the celebration.

Luke Chueh: HEADS at Clutter Gallery May 10

by
SATURDAY: MAY 10TH, 2014 (BEACON, NY)

CLUTTER GALLERY PRESENTS: LUKE CHUEH "HEADS" (plus Scott Tolleson)

From Luke:
This May, Clutter Gallery will be the hosting my upcoming mini solo show, "Heads". Clutter Magazine & Gallery are best known for their coverage of the Art/Designer toy scene. As such, we felt that this would be a good opportunity for me to do a show that was very different from my normal paintings-on-canvas shows. Starting with the shape of my bear's head and casting an 8" in diameter rotocast version of it, we created a unique platform for me to build this show on.

The show is also actually a two person show. I'll be sharing the gallery with my friend and colleague Scott Tolleson.

This is also one of my first major exhibitions on the east coast. I realize it's actually in Upstate New York, but I hope to see you there.

Opening Reception:

Saturday, May 10th, 2014 (6PM - 9PM)
163 Main Street

Beacon, NY 12508

Funko Storms In with SHARKNADO

by

Even if you don't own any other Funko POP vinyl toys (what's wrong with you?) you need to own this one.  How could you not?  It's a vinyl toy featuring a shark IN A TORNADO, based on movie about SHARKS IN A TORNADO.  Why am I even still writing this?  Any sane person would have already clicked the link and ordered a case of these bad boys just to have one in every room of the house.

GO!

Undead Baby Dragon & Bitemares Plush Kickstarter by Vamplets

by
Baby Bitemares plushes by Vamplets
Undead Baby Dragon plush by Vamplets
We have had a long relationship with the fine people at Vamplets... I'm not sure when we actually met G-Ra, the spokesgoth for Vamplets, but she has our same fun, sort of absurd attitude. We've been fast friends ever since! Lately Vamplets has successfully funded a few different awesome plush Kickstarters for new products, and this one looks to be another success... with 20 days more to go and just $400 more to raise, it's pretty much a done deal!

And it's no wonder, those Baby Bitemares (top pic) are ridiculously cute... you can grab one for just $15 in their Kickstarter. The adorable Undead Baby Dragon (above) is just $35.

I picked up a pink Baby Bitemare for my niece, who currently resides in Tokyo (yes, my niece is cooler than me already).

You can also grab a comic book for $5, or a graphic novel and comic book set for $20.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2084712128/undead-baby-dragon-and-bitemares-plush-from-vample
In one of their earlier Kickstarters, I picked up a Ghost Pony plush, which is probably also going to be shipped to Tokyo if I can convince myself to part with it. Super cool, creepy plush. In this Kickstarter, you can grab a saddle for your Ghost Pony for just $12, or if you missed the last Kickstarter, you can pick up the full Ghost Pony with Saddle set for $35 (pictured below).

Love these products. These are great gift ideas, and the prices are really reasonable, especially given the fact that they include US shipping.

Check out the latest Vamplets Kickstarter! You'll be sorry!

oh I mean you WON'T be sorry! heh.
