New Release by Creo Design - Creology

by

Creology, created by Chris Alexander A.K.A Creo Design, is the first truly unique creative tool that can help you personally and creatively develop.

CREOLOGY (cre-o-logy) is derived from the Latin word for ‘Create’ CREO and the Greek word for ‘The Study of’ (a certain subject) LOGY. CREOLOGY; the study of creativity.

Creology has been developed from the philosophies of; the Creative Process, Collaboration as Process, Curation of Creativity and Reflection, as a method for Personal and Creative Development. The purpose of Creology is to explore and examine the nature of practitioners creativity through their interaction with an individually unique and creative physical tool/artifact ‘Element’.

Creative practitioners use a variety of design methodologies, creative methods and sometimes actual tools to express their creative process. But within each individual approach, reflection is the common factor or lingua franca and the one true constant embedded within each practitioners core creative and personal development). Reflection in this sense, as the very means of creative and personal growth, differs radically between specialisms and specialists with no specific or consistent tool or platform embodying this expression.

However, Individuality and self-expression is paramount to all successful creative practitioners and the body of work they produce, whilst the creative process itself has been less easily quantified.
Personalisation/customisation is fundamental to social dynamics and filling our environments with our own personal objects and artifacts transforms that space into an extension of our creative individuality and identity – objects with their own biographies.

Backed by extensive research, data sets drawn from over 150+ creative practitioners responses to a subjective psychoanalytical survey, resulted in a series of unique Elements [3D modeled and 3D printed]. These Elements were then used as touch-points in their creative process or as a platform for ideation and creative expression. The resulting Elements were also used to help curate and showcase an individuals or team’s pragmatic or idealistic approach to brainstorming, visual mapping and project development.

The generation and use of a unique and personal platform allows the user/s to; Curate, Reflect, Evaluate and Originate new and existing creative outputs via multiple means of interaction. The Elements in this sense is also a tangible representation of individuals or groups Creative Identity. This holistic and creative method/tool may assist in the creation of a more cohesive creative approach, through the curation of ideas, which may inspire new creativity, foster existing relations whilst also forging new creative collaborations.

You have the option to undertake the survey for yourself and create your own element to personalize/customize. OR you can by any of the pre-made elements. Great artists and creative’s including Jackson Aw (Mighty Jaxx), Benny Kline (Tenacious Toys), Gary Rozanski (The Toy
Chronicle), Lee McSweeney (Collect & Display),Lisa Rae Hansen (I Break Toys), Penny Taylor (Taylored Curiosities), Richard Page (UMEtoys), Aaron Woes (Woes Martin), Gavin Strange (Jam Factory), Radim Malinic (Brand_Nu), Tado, Paul and Becky (Stitches & Glue), Ziqi Wu (QiQi), Mirand O’ Brien (Clutter Magazine) and Evan Morgan – and so many more are all there to buy and collaborate with in a unique and exciting way.

Elements come in 2’’, 3’’,4’’, 5’’ and 6’’ sizes and prices range from £5 - £30. Each 3D printed to order in amazing quality and shipping is a one off fee per order of £4 for the UK and £8 International. So no matter how much you place in your order that is all you pay!

Awesome Toy's "Awesome TV" Sofubi

by

The guys over at Awesome Toy are proud to present something a little different to their current roster of super robots, kaiju and retro-themed figures... introducing the Awesome TV! Inspired by the Indie Toy scene’s extensive selection of “platform” toys - figures that can be customised - the vintage-styled TV’s unique take on the idea is set to offer sofubi painters, designer toy customisers and even illustrators more scope for creativity than ever before. Featuring an ingenious, fully-adaptable design, the deceptively simple soft vinyl cube has been fitted with a removable front “screen” panel, meaning that not only can the outer shell be painted, re-sculpted or mashed-up with other figures - a TV head instantly springs to mind! - but it can also be used to display prints, drawings, photos or even various items inside- the possibilities for different “programs” and “channels” are limitless! Aside from the DIY/custom aspect, the Awesome TV will also be used in conjunction with future Awesome Toy releases, including a number of planned artist collaborations, exclusive versions, plus integration with previous AT figures. Pictured above (insert pic!) in vinyl test-shot form, we’re told to expect the Awesome TV sofubi’s first colorway via preorder soon… Keep track of the Awesome Toy Instagram feed here for the full lowdown over the coming weeks!

I'm really excited for these.  I've got a few customs in mind that use a TV "head" and this will look a lot better than any attempt to sculpt one myself would come out. I once tried to sculpt minifigure.  I was going for a werewolf type creature.  I settled for "blob with what could be eyes".

Boneyard Pets - Because Dinosaurs!

by

I don't know about you- but I'm way more interested in Dinosaurs now than I was when I was a kid. Probably in part because the little tiny wooden, and very breakable, model kits didn't do the creatures they reproduced much justice. These big, weather durable Boneyard Pets from 32 Square, however, are looking dino-mite.

That's a model size you can sink your teeth into.
Boneyard Pets are up on Kickstarter here, and are already fully funded- so they're coming! Check out their new dinosaur designs, sizes and colours here.

All City Style Trains are back on track and available to shops at wholesale

by
Big news from Bigshot Toyworks: their insanely popular All City Style blank subway trains are back! Bigshot is now accepting wholesale orders from shops interested in restocking this product which sold out nearly everywhere, world-wide. I'll definitely get some.

ACS trains are 20 inches long and are essentially a half of a train car- back is flat and comes with necessary hardware to mount to a wall. Each ACS train also comes with pegs and holes so 2 can be combined to form a whole train car. A versatile piece. So many famous artists have customized ACS trains that it would be absurd to even begin to list them. Basically, it's everyone you've ever heard of. Go to the ACS website and click on Shows to see a bunch of custom painted trains. ACS shows have been help in countries around the world. I think the last one was in South Korea. Next one I believe will be Cardboard Spaceship... and I only know that because I'm paying attention to attentive bloggers. Just like you're doing now. How meta.

Anyone wishing to purchase single trains, or small numbers, will have to contact your favorite local retailer to obtain them. SRP is $40 each.

Shops wishing to make wholesale purchases can email orders into sales@bigshottoyworks.com - wholesale pricing begins with orders of 40 trains. The ACS trains come in 10-pc cases and you can buy 10, 20 or 30 of them but you'll be paying a higher price per piece than you would at true wholesale pricing you get when you order 40+ pieces.

Best of all, Bigshot has for the first tme produced crystal-clear Ghost Trains (pictured below) which are ONLY available at wholesale to shops that make 40-train purchases. Shops can buy 20 Ghost Trains for every 40 silver (original) ACS trains they buy.

The shipment of All City Style trains is headed our way... so get your orders in!

If you need more info, click here to view the most recent ACS email. Or sign up for their email list yourself at the bottom of their Contact page.

I'd quite like to give the Yoo-Doo creater a high five...

by
Hot of the heels of yesterdays total d**k awards is something you might not expect... instead this is something so special I almost want to hunt down the brains behind it and give them a high five. Now just to be clear I'm in no way saying this guy is doing good- he's a bit of a c**k to be honest- but when you're so arrogant as to start a toy business selling DIY's of a DIY so universally popular and recognizable as a Munny by Kidrobot you at least deserve a golf clap.

And with that I present to you the Yoo-Doo, a 4" White DIY Vinyl product with a name that resembles a mid 90's catchphrase more than the name of a DIY product for the masses. Now I'm not saying this company (which up until a few hours ago had no social presence and has a website that would look dated in 1993) is a tad iffy and perhaps a quick-buck scheme but.... well OK, I am saying that.

Seriously what else can it be? A quick Google search for "DIY toy" shows you a Munny, if you're not familiar with the Kidrobot product this is bootlegged from. If this company was seriously looking to breaking into the toy scene you'd at least expect them to do some research... or am I being mental? At $7.99 it's a low priced product and if it was something new then they'd be onto something. As it stands there probably gonna be sued by Kidrobot's lawyers.

**Update**

Ok so this got interesting fast, the folks over at Vinyl Planet Toys responded to the many post's stating the obvious. As you can read above this isn't some dude knocking out a copy of a more popular design, this guys buying and repackaging them from "some website". This is where it gets interesting, is it some factory/website in (insert sketchy country known for knockoffs) or are they in fact real Kidrobot Munny's ?. I'm guessing cheap knock offs seeing as Munny's are stamped on the feet, I could be wrong tho I hope I am I'd like this guy even more If he was that much of an arrogant c**k.
