DCon 2016 Booth #527 - Broke Piggy

It looks like the people over at Broke Piggy are going to try and make collectors go broke with all the customs they are teasing for Designer Con 2016. A special 8" Dunny Custom Exhibit, Toy Within a Toy, featuring works by The Bots, Scott Tolleson, Uamou and Jeremiah Ketner. If that wasn't enough, Broke Piggy also teamed up with artist MADL, for another custom exhibit, Bricked MADL. The Bricked MADL exhibit will feature Brick MADLs as a base and work by the following artists: MAD, Kano, Angry Woebots, Deph, Jesse Hernandez, Marka27, Scribe, and Sket One. If the exhibits weren't enough, Broke Piggy will have a limited amount of Pineapple Monsters by Black Seed Toys. Make sure to stop by the Broke Piggy Booth #527, as they hang out next to a booth featuring DrilOne, Leecifer and Scott Tolleson.

Flynn - Custom 10" MADL by Jon-Paul Kaiser

One of Jon-Paul Kaiser's latest commissions is a 10" Custom MADL of Flynn, from the movie Tron Legacy. After chatting back and forth with the client about different costume variants, they settled on the white robe costume. The robe outfit goes well with the MADL shape and the contrast really makes the face pop. Jon-Paul Kaiser is most likely gearing up for ToyConUK 2015, so keep an eye out on all the goodies that attendees will have a chance at. As with all of Jon-Paul's work, photography is courtesy of Justin Allfree.

WIP: Zombie Nughut by Nugglife

WIP photos are always great. A brief look into an artists method and unfinished work. Nugglife's latest WIP photo's of Zombie Nughut shows rough sculpting, some foil, a switch and wires exposed. All of which will likely become hidden and seamless in the completed piece, as with all of Nugglife's pieces. Being built on a MADL head, a full reveal of this piece will be coming in the next week or so. Great insight.

MAD Toy Store Royal Sale

Kansas City not only produces some top notch sports teams, the city also is the home to a bunch of awesome artists. In 1985, the Kansas City Royals beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4 games to 3. Definitely a great series. Fast forward 29 years, not only did the Kansas City Royals finally make it to the playoffs after a 29 year drought, they are playing for all the marbles in the 2014 World Series. Now back to artists. KC based artist MAD is having a "Royal Sale!" to commemorate the Royals playing in the 2014 World Series. For as long as the 2014 World Series lasts, customers can use the promo code "RoyalKC" to receive 29% off his/her order. With KC on a nice undefeated Playoff run, having won every 2014 playoff game up to this point, MAD's sale will last at least until Saturday, October 25th. This is a perfect opportunity to add one or more pieces from MAD. Go Royals!

REVIEW: 10-Year Edition MAD*L Set of 2 by MAD Toy Design

It's not often that a product arrives in as minty perfect condition as the stock photos show on the producer's website... but these 5-inch 10-Year Anniversary Edition MAD*L figures I just got from MAD are absolutely perfect... stock photo above...

... actual photos here. Printing is tight and bold and the lines are super clean. I'm sure the added touch of shipping these figures in plastic baggies, inside draw-string printed pouches, inside a box, helped with the perfect arrival. Love the black & white motif. A couple really stellar additions to my personal collection.

We are super proud to have been stocking the Mad*L figures from the very beginning (well sorta, we started whenever MAD put out Series 1, which sold like crazy... our shop is apparently exactly as old as the Mad*L figure).

Best of all, you can STILL get a set of these figures in MAD's online store here. The set of 2 is only $50, which is actually less per figure than his normal 5" MAD*L price! A steal. I'm astonished that there are any left at all. Get yours.

10 Year Edition MAD*L Set by MAD Toy Design

Jeremy Madl, MAD Toy Design, has been doing what he loves for 10 years and to commemorate this milestone he has created a special MAD*L 10yr Edition set. Limited to just 100 sets, the design is similar to MAD's 10yr mini MAD*L resin release. A set consists of two 5" MAD*L figures, a black with white graphics and a white with black graphics, each MAD*L comes in it's own custom printed drawstring bag. Each set will cost $50 plus shipping and is limited to two sets per household/account. These sets are expected to release on August 8 at 12pm Central time, exclusively on the MAD Toy Store website.

Congratulations to Jeremy Madl on his success and milestone! Here's to another 10 years(and more) of success.

Perfect Examples 5in Custom MadL Show at PIQ in Grand Central on July 11

Our friends at PIQ are hosting a custom show starting July 11th in their Grand Central, NYC store. Platform for the "Perfect Examples" show will be the 5-inch MadL, and the artist roster looks pretty sweet: Sket One, Carson Catlin, Juan Muniz, Jason Thomas, Jeremy MadL (of course!), Jeremi Rivel, Crummy Gummy, Yema Yema, Riot 68, The Graphix Chic, Brian Flynn, Dillion Boy, Dolly Oblong & more!

Come visit PIQ on July 11th to help kick off this show! Grand Central is pretty damn convenient to... everyone. So there's no excuse. I'll even make locating PIQ easy for you: go to the famous clock in the middle of the main room of Grand Central. On either end of the room there are "passages"... walk towards the one marked "Shuttle Passage" and you will see the bright colors of PIQ in front of you. Easy.

I am helping organize few cool shows at PIQ later this year, so stay tuned for info on those.

Teddy Tank HXW7 Custom MAD*L by dust

Swiss/German Artist Dust sent over some great pics of a recently completed custom 5" MAD*L, titled "Teddy Tank HXW7". Dust has created a great little diorama, with a nice theme which is continuous throughout the entire piece. With the MAD*L Tank being the focal point, this piece comes complete with a driver named Hans and the little fella Peter.  Peter is dealing with illegal little creatures, while the driver Hans, has already bought one. This little diorama has a lot of little details and with every picture, something new can be found. The driver Hans appears to be a separate figure and can be positioned anywhere, including inside the Mad*l Tank. Although no word on price or availability, this piece is definitely going to make some collector very happy.

Be sure to follow dust as his site gets updated frequently.

NUGGLIFE Grow-Op #2 with DEA Headquarters by Ian Ziobrowski

This is the full, ridiculous reveal of Ian Ziobrowski's Grow-Op #2 and DEA Headquarters 10" MadL set, which comes with a boxed set of 6 custom 3" Dunnys and one 3" BIC Buddy. It's epic. Ian's been grinding away on these customs for months- there was a reveal of sorts at our NYCC booth but here are all the pictures for you to drool over. Also check the cool video by Jordan Ahern:

This is the NUGGLIFE Grow-Op #2 with DEA Headquarters. This set includes 2 10" MADL's with six 3" custom dunnys and one 3" custom bic buddy. This set was part of the creation of my newest character's of the year SMOKEY, and Agent Ox! Now each MADL comes with LED lighting and easy access battery. Characters fit inside each operation allowing you set up to the clients desire. Here's a little something about the story:

For the past 3 years I've been working on a series of works portraying a seen in American society for hundreds of years now. NUGGLIFE a world were underground influences emerge to create an exclusive lifestyle......the hustler!

These three characters of mine Nuggs, Thugz, and Crooked ED, are out to do what they do best....supply and demand, and everyone goes home happy. Now of course there's people to interfere with NUGGLIFE's transactions. In this new set I've included something that's never been seen before, "The DEA Headquarters". This operation is much worse than NUGGS expected. Now with tracking technology, cloning devices, and a hide out the DEA are back in action!

Mostly Harmless Vinyl Customs - Undead Androids & more!

Mostly Harmless has been featured here before for their amazing vinyl customs, but work this great deserves another shout out, and there is no shortage of new product being made available in the Don't Panic Store.

First you may notice the prevalent undead theme (I'm not complaining), like with these adorable face munching Androids, which are made to order.

Then you'll see there are a number of other platforms and styles represented, from the obligate Dunnys and Munnys to BUDS, even some Unicornos. For the serious collector, there's this undead 10" MadL for a cool $150. Not a bad deal at all, in fact all of the prices are quite reasonable for such face-melting works of art.

Keep watch on Mostly Harmless on Facebook or DeviantArt and snag something nice for your own shelf this holiday season. You deserve it!
