WHAT IS PLASTIC WARS:  

Plastic Wars is an environment of robots and machines which offers creative freedom to express a wide range of artistic exploration and brings together aesthetics that might be different at first (The aesthetics of the toys created by the artists that are invited to collaborate) creating a visual universe full of nuances and with a great background.  

The original concept of Plastic Wars is based on creating unique collaborations with different Toy artists all around the world, whose only link will be the mech/vehicle/armour created by Ghetto Plastic Toys, which will provide a cohesive visual background for characters that, originally, had nothing to do with each other.

Every Plastic Wars collaboration (Volume) will have a context adapted to the story, origin or universe the guest Toy (or its creator) comes from, whose personality will be assimilated by Ghetto Plastic Toys to create the new Plastic Wars release, which won't necessarily be a robot.  

This is a project with a really interesting and ambitious context for Ghetto Plastic, not only due to the artistic exchange with other creators, but also because of the opportunity to create a universe full of visual nuances in the mechanical context/setting, which is our greatest motivation and field of expertise.

VOL 00//MECHAVERITA:  

Reinventing itself, the 'Calaverita' mechanises, readjusts and upgrades itself, leaving behind the deepness of the Mexican heavy industry to make the world its range of action.

It's worth mentioning that some of the study subjects changed by themselves, as in this same case, while others simply created accessories to boost or enhance their skills.

Mechaverita is considered to be Plastic Wars' 'subject zero' since it was the first sighted and documented case. Although the first sighting took place while it was making its way through the border toward Los Angeles, where Mechaverita established its base of operations, news of several sightings around the whole world started to arise shortly after.

There is no data on its intentions or moral affiliation, but it being a 'calaverita' (Spanish for little skull) we might venture that, maybe, it is a bearer of death.

Other witnesses said its interchangeable hands and addons are ‘to help as much to destroy’, thus people says it's ‘a friendly robot for the apocalyptic future’.

Even so, some witnesses report unusual behaviour that lead us to conclude that its motivations are yet to be defined.

Saturday and Sunday Booth 780 will be hosting a Mechatro WeGo Pop Up Shop featuring a whole slew of different WeGo figures in both the 1/35th and 1/12th scale sizes!

(NOTE: WeGos will be available for purchase all 4 days of NYCC. To purchase on Thursday or Friday, locate the lighted glass WeGo case in Booth 780 and ask a booth staff member nearby for assistance.)

Many of these WeGos are shipping directly from Japan and are otherwise extremely hard to find in the USA. The red, green and blue WeGos pictured have deco like the Japanese taxis! No other retailer in the USA currently has the above-pictured WeGos.

So, what is a WeGo?

Adopt a SnodBOT kickstarter by Craig Snodgrass

The first SnodBOT - Duppy - was illustrated and designed by Craig Snodgrass. Craig Snodgrass is an artist who draws uncannily human robots. Snodgrass' robot illustrations have a distinct style and expression that make a connection to people from all walks of life.

Snodgrass has been drawing these robots (SnodBOTS) for years, but now it is time to take these characters beyond the page and into the 3rd dimension. 

Your contributions will primarily go towards getting the toy manufactured. If they exceed their initial goal some funds may go towards increasing the production run. Funding will also go towards rewards, marketing costs, packaging and shipping costs.

Ideally the toys will be ready for shipment by December 2016 or January 2017. Having limited quantities of these will make them highly collectable among toy and art collectors alike. Think of these as three dimensional limited edition prints.

Air Bass Robo by Teru Fujita

 We've had Teru Fujita in one of our shows (Candy Coated Custom Show) and recently I ran across a sweet piece he did for Peter Kato's Bedtime Bunnies show at MPH. In addition to being a talented musician, Teru is pretty much a mechanical genius. All of his pieces feature moving parts, electronics, and sometimes sounds or music. Lots of buttons, switches, doors. It's all drawn out by schematics beforehand, and then handcrafted, part by part. It's... pretty fucking intense. Look at the parts below for Air Bass Robo:

Vulkira 8-inch Vinyl Toy Robot figure on Kickstarter

Eric Smith (fullblownink.com) channeled his influences and interests into creating Vulkira, his first designer vinyl toy concept. Vulkira is 8" tall and was inspired by Eric's favorite giant Japanese robots.

Vulkira™ will be produced by Unbox Industries. If all goes well with this project, Eric plans to produce a 24" vintage jumbo style Vulkira in the future.

Limited to 300 pieces with a Shogun Warriors colorway, Vulkira will stand 8" and will have 3 points of articulation as well as removable fists and drill and missile launcher attachments.
