Mattel to Close Mattycollector.com by end of 2016

Some big news for customers and fans of MattyCollector.com was released during SDCC 2016. As of December 31, 2016, Mattel's home for the Masters Of The Universe line of toys will be shutting down, while Super7 will be taking over development and production of MOTU starting in 2017. Check out the news releases on MattyCollector.com and on Super7hq.com to find out more preliminary details. This is great news for Super7 as they've done a great job over the past couple of years bringing MOTU back into collectors hands. Some preview of what's to come in 2017 will be popping up shortly, so keep an eye out for more MOTU news.

Latest release from Super7 by Leecifer and KaToPe

Super7 is going to be releasing a couple of new figures on March 31st. First up is the latest Honoo figure by Leecifer, the protector of children both young and old. The latest Honoo is Clear vinyl, with nice blue and black accents.

Also releasing on Thursday, March 31st is Drunk Seijin by KaToPe. Dark Seijin comes from a planet of fantastic and is ready to lead the way into Spring. Drunk Seijin and the Clear Honoo will be available both online and In Store at noon PST on March 31st.

NEW MOTU Retro 3.75" Action Figures by Super7 Feature Jason Edmiston Artwork on Packaging

There are a lot of reasons why I'm excited about this new Masters of the Universe retro-style line of 3.75" action figures that Super7 has up for preorder... but the main thing that stopped me and forced me to blog is that each package features SWEET artwork by legendary painter Jason Edmiston.

Jason graced Bigshot Toyworks' FUnicorn package with an epic scene featuring the FUnicorn at the top of an exploding volcano. What many people might not realize is that the packaging artwork began as a painting! Like, a real fucking painting, executed with a brush and actual paint. These days... that's notable.

Big ups to Jason for killing it as usual, and big ups to Super7 for tapping him for this series of packaging art. So good.

Super7 and Secret Base are dropping a green version of their 4" soft vinyl Xenomorph figure this Friday. This looks sick. No price is listed but the black version released back in October was $50, so you can expect about the same for this one.

New Pocket Invisiboy Available August 16 @ Noon Pacific

New from Super 7 this Thursday is the Pocket Invisiboy Blue. It will be on sale at noon, Pacific time and available exclusively on Super 7's website. The collectible is cast in white vinyl with blue spray gradation and highlights. Each one is packaged individually in it's own poly bag with a brand new Mummy Boy header card. They will be available at $25 a piece this Thursday and man is this toy dapper. Reminds me of Bruce Campbell in those Old Spice commercials, but with a smoother jaw line.

Cheddar, Day Ahead: TaskOne's custom for Playsam 500 show at Super7

 TaskOne shares with us his entry into the Playsam 500- Cheddar, Days Ahead is a custom based on the Playsam Streamliner wooden toy. TaskOne always kills it. 

This show at Super7's San Francisco shop looks amazing- I've seen a ton of sweet customs in this show, like this one and this one.

Task and I are talking about doing a Tenacious exclusive release later this year. Any suggestions?

 Here is my contribution to the Playsam 500 show at Super7Store in San Francisco on April 28th.
This is the first time I have ever worked with wood, and boy was it fun. I started by sketching out the design and then slowly drilled away with a Dremmel. My goal was to achieve something similar to my cuts pieces but came away with a mushroom looking thingy. That's why its called fungusamongus. I painted the wheels with light green acrylic and finished them with a high gloss lacquer. The body was stained twice and then sanded down to reveal the unstained wood. To finish it and give a it warm gloss I waxed the car a bunch, like for at least three hours.

Josh Mayhem custom Playsam Streamliner for Super7 Playsam 500

Josh Mayhem shares with us a WIP shot of his custom Playsam Streamliner for the Playsam 500 show at the San Francisco Super7 store. Josh always goes way above and beyond with his accessorizing, and this very basic wooden toy is definitely getting a little firepower from the Mayhem Monster Garage! Seriously Josh, I think you should add some more guns!

Did you see Josh's custom Bellicose Bunny? The thing had a laser cannon bigger than the damn bunny!
