Mattel to Close Mattycollector.com by end of 2016

Some big news for customers and fans of MattyCollector.com was released during SDCC 2016. As of December 31, 2016, Mattel's home for the Masters Of The Universe line of toys will be shutting down, while Super7 will be taking over development and production of MOTU starting in 2017. Check out the news releases on MattyCollector.com and on Super7hq.com to find out more preliminary details. This is great news for Super7 as they've done a great job over the past couple of years bringing MOTU back into collectors hands. Some preview of what's to come in 2017 will be popping up shortly, so keep an eye out for more MOTU news.

NEW MOTU Retro 3.75" Action Figures by Super7 Feature Jason Edmiston Artwork on Packaging

There are a lot of reasons why I'm excited about this new Masters of the Universe retro-style line of 3.75" action figures that Super7 has up for preorder... but the main thing that stopped me and forced me to blog is that each package features SWEET artwork by legendary painter Jason Edmiston.

Jason graced Bigshot Toyworks' FUnicorn package with an epic scene featuring the FUnicorn at the top of an exploding volcano. What many people might not realize is that the packaging artwork began as a painting! Like, a real fucking painting, executed with a brush and actual paint. These days... that's notable.

Big ups to Jason for killing it as usual, and big ups to Super7 for tapping him for this series of packaging art. So good.

On the left we have "Universe Master"

6" handmade bootleg resin toy. combines various masters of the universe figures. Both arms are (re)movable and posable.

In the right we have "BLAASTERMINATOR"

5.5" tall handmade bootleg resin toy. fantastic four x terminator x thundercats. comes with motu sword weapon, no parts move though.

Both these guys are long since sold, but I can safely say I am beyond excited to see what they come up with next!

Intergalactic Hammerhead figures by Forces of Dorkness

I hope you saved some money after your trip to NYCC, because Scott Kinnebrew has goodies pouring out of every orifice.   Like his new Intergalactic Hammerhead resin figures. Bootlegged from a MotU figure with a custom head sculpt, they come in nine different colors ranging from opaque purple  to translucent green.

Hazarai Rack Race #2 begins Sunday 9PM; win a MOTU Trap Jaw Super Deformed plush!

The HAZARAI Rack Race online scavenger hunt is back by popular demand, and this week the prize is a Masters of the Universe Trap-Jaw 7-inch Super Deformed Plush (above).

How do you play? Glad you asked! At 9PM EST Sunday night, you'll see the links to the Rack Race #2 list posted on Hazarai's Twitter & Facebook... 

 

Once you have the list, do the following:

1.     Create a New Rack on HAZARAI called “Super Rack Race 2” and select the “Big Fun" category.

2.     Fill up your Rack by collecting at least one of each of the items from the list.
