Toy sculptor Julian Briones and illustrator Mark Laszlö have teamed up to bring this rather disturbing toy to life.

Dry Specimen: Homunculous (aka Embryoseph) is selling in 2 sizes and in two formats.

• Week 13 is 5.5 cm ( 2 in ) from rump to crown
• Week 19 is 9 cm ( 3.5 in) from rump to crown.

Backers have the option to order them painted-ready-to-display or as a DIY kit.
Prices range from AUD$40 through to AUD$120.

There is also a single, large format Dry Specimen available for purchase: Week:35. The Big Baby stands at a whopping 35cm ( 13.5 in ) from rump to crown!!

Tenacious Toys Exclusive "Alien Nation" print collab between NEMO & Janice Terao

Introducing another Exclusive for our NYCC booth: the 12" x 12" "Alien Nation" print is a collaborative project that Mike NEMO Mendez is launching with painter Janice Terao. This will be the first of many paintings representing sculptural work by NEMO. The Alien Nation piece shows NEMO's Pilot of Prometheus 5" Mini Qee which he made for one of our custom toy shows. The custom Qee will make an appearance at NYCC alongside these prints.

Info on the prints:
Edition of 50, hand signed and numbered. 12 by 12 inch moab entrada and breathing color, both are 300gsm rag, comes with cardboard and plastic sleeve. $20 each.

Alien Chestburster Custom Munny by Jon-Paul Kaiser

For those who've watched Alien (1979), one of the most iconic scenes is the Chestburster (or Chestbuster) scene, when the implanted alien in Kane, played by John Hurt, decides to make an appearance during dinner. The dramatic scene of the alien bursting through Kane's chest is one that's been recreated and even re-imagined over the years. Jon-Paul Kaiser recreated the iconic scene using a 5 inch mini Munny for Kane and what looks to be the ear of a Dunny for the Chestburster. Jon-Paul states: "I wanted to capture that moment when everything is in a state of flux; Kane is on the cusp of death, he alien is at last born but not yet fled and the crew have yet to face it once it grows...". The Munny arms have been repositioned to present Kane splayed out on the table, with the Alien bursting out of the chest(using what looks to be like a Dunny ear). Red "blood" is expertly painted to provide some great contrast to the black and white of the figure and table. Another great custom by Jon-Paul Kaiser.

Cig Neutron designer sculpt soaps from Bizarro Au Go-Go

 

Cig Neutron is a Sculptor I really like(love) following on Instagram @cigneutron , not only because he makes amazing sculpture for clients or gallery exhibition, but also because he curates a project called Bizzaro Au Go-Go  that gets my gross monster art motor running.

 

So when I saw his newest little Cigaratt creature scultpures, it reminded me of designer resin toys;

 

 

Except, it turns out this litte fella (and his friends here) aren't resin pieces afterall- they're soap! Cig Neutron's fantastic sculpting and casting makes these pieces nice enough to display- not just hang out beside your sink. But, they're down for that too! ;)
