20-inch Qee Bear Custom Show at Multiversal

by
If you are in the Sunshine State in early December, you have the opportunity to witness one of the craziest custom shows happening this year: Wizard Sleeve Toys is throwing a giant art show and sale called the Multiversal Group Show at this year's Art Basel in Miami, FL.
Along with the work of dozens of traditional artists, Wizard Sleeve Toys will be exhibiting 20-inch custom Qees in a show called "Qee to the City". Mike of WST and I pulled some strings and managed to get 8 giant 20-inch Qee Bears out to 8 of the most talented toy customizers working today:
With this much talent, and this much vinyl, the Qee to the City custom show is gonna be off the hook! I just got off the phone with NEMO and Ian and they're stoked about the giant Qees they just received!  Stay tuned to this blog, and the blogs of WST and the artists listed above, to see work in progress shots and teasers as we run up to the beginning of December.
You can follow the Multiversal Group Show on their website, Facebook & Twitter

This show would absolutely NOT be possible without the help and support of Raymond Choy and Kevin Winnik of Toy2R, and of course our friends at Apex distributing Toy2R toys here in the US.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Domo Qee Series 3 coming in 2011: Domo in a tux!

by
Can't get enough Domo Qees? Neither can I. I usually crush one up and snort it for breakfast!
I just got the press release from Dark Horse for the NEXT series of Domo Qees: Series 3, releasing Spring 2011:

Series 3 features 15 all new limited-edition versions including Flocked Blue, shiny Candy Apple Red, Prickly Purple, Gold Glitter, and 11 other fabulous designs, including 1 ultra rare mystery figure.  Which one will you get?  Well, you won't know until the box is opened!

In addition to the above-mentioned styles, it looks like there's a Strawberry colorway, a Spaceman Domo colorway, a Beehive colorway, a Zebra colorway, a Domo in a tuxedo (James Domo? Domo Bond?), a pink teardrop colorway, a frikkin SWEET watermelon rind colorway and another version of the circuits colorway! All in all I'd say this one looks like a REALLY interesting series.

Above manufacturer-supplied copy is misleading, because if you know us here at Tenacious Toys, you know that we routinely open blind boxes for your collecting pleasure. I'll be popping a buncha Series 3 Domos open and selling them at reasonable prices, as usual. If you want a full, sealed case of 15, email us and let us know as that will affect how many cartons we buy.
DOMO IN A TUX!

Jon-Paul Kaiser production toys now in stock

by
Jon-Paul Kaiser has made the quantum leap from painting custom toys (in his signature black-and-white style) to having giant companies manufacture his own designs! We've watched JPK gain notoriety online and we've been cheering him from the sidelines all along. Above is the JPK 5-inch Samurai Pumpkin figure ($26.95), and below is the 2.5-inch Great Khan Qee ($9.95) which appears in Designer Collection Series 6 from Toy2R.
Congrats JPK! We're stoked that we can support you by stocking your toys at Tenacious Toys!

Kings of Atlantis: Wealth King resin by END of Argonaut Resins

by
If you've bought a resin sculpt in the past decade, chances are you own a resin piece by Eric Nocella Diaz (END) of Argonaut Resins. END's been pouring resin for himself and for companies large and small for longer than I've been in the toy business. His latest collaboration with style-mongers Cookies-N-Cream is this skull sculpt for a project they're calling the Kings of Atlantis. There will be 5 different versions: Wealth, War, Peace, Wisdom & Sky Kings. Above pictured is the first piece: the Wealth King. Each resin sculpt comes with a matching talisman magnet, a certificate of authenticity and handmade custom packaging which END makes himself.
To follow this project, and to see images of the upcoming 4 other Kings, go to Cookies-N-Cream's blog. To purchase, go directly to their web store.

2010 Teddy Bear 2.5" Holiday Qee by Toy2R

by
T'was just weeks away from Christmas day
And Santa was busy - needless to say.
Boys and girls from across the land
Made holiday wish lists for the big fat man.

Ole St Nick asked Toy2r, 'Would you please help me
with a cute adorable holiday Qee?'
So with some magic, some love and a whole lot of care
A Teddy Bear Qee was made for all to share.

For stockings hung by the chimney so high
Don't let this collectible pass you by.
From Toy2r we offer this Qee
In hopes you find it, under your tree!

Toy2R's Designer Collection Series 6 restocked, open box

by
We are pleased to offer the FULL selection of 2.5-inch Designer Collection Series 6 Qees from Toy2R. They sold so well, we restocked! And, as usual, we popped those bad boys open to find out wht's inside the blind boxes. Toy2R CRAMMED this series full of variant colorways and chases, and we scored at least one of each! So click through to our site to buy them all, or continue reading to learn more about this series:
Qee Designer Collection Series 6 is composed of the following:

- 3 different DOINK Qees (that's the drippy MonQee: Orange/White, Blue White variant & Red/GID variant)
- Daniel Jarrett (That's the MonQee with the blue suit)
- DrilOne (the skull-head one with green body- head glows in the dark!)
- Raymond Choy (that's the owner of Toy2R! his Qee is the black and white dog)
- Peskimo (Green/Yellow is the regular figure, Red/Yellow is the variant)
- Jon Paul Kaiser (easy to spot, all of his customs are black and white, and this production toy is no different)
- Charlie Mewshaw (that's the pink BoxeeQ, which has a GID variant)
- Lisa Petrucci (hers is the red BunneeQ)
- Frank Kozik, whose Qees in this series are tiny 2.5-inch versions of his AWESOME Toyer-Z and Toyer Emeny figures
- Cameron Tiede (blue and yellow BoxeeQ)
- finally there are 3 country-themed chase figures (unpictured above) correlating to the flags of China, the US and France. They look sorta like Luchadores to me...

Pretty darn cool series, I must say. Definitely quite varied in the styles, and colorful to boot! I like how Toy2R has finally started mixing it up with some emerging artists. Only good things can come of that. Helps the community as a whole, and keeps things fresh for us collectors.

Jamungo Halloween BUDCAT designed by Scott Wilkowski

by
Regrettably this is a Jamungo exclusive figure, so we won't have it for sale, but on Halloween at 12 noon (Central time) you should go to the Jamungo store and purchase one of these for $65 total ($80 if you are outside the US).
I believe these Halloween BUDCATs are around 3.5 inches tall. Design is by Scott Wilkowski and they will be limited to approximately 70 pieces. Comes with "firecracker" and jack-o-lantern accessories:
One of the coolest BUDs I've ever seen!
