by
What a tease! J★RYU has been teasing some work which will be available at Designer Con 2014, Booth # 1113. In addition to the Love Sapling, J★RYU is going to have a number of original sculptures, resin art collectibles, as well as some customs on platforms J★RYU has yet to tackle. J★RYU has already teased some Argonaut Resin pieces and what looks to be a Huck Gee Skullhead Bust. J★RYU also teased the hashtags 3A, Munny, Dunny, and Madl, so there appears to be a ton of great work in store for DCon 2014 attendees. No word on pricing or availability, but for those attending Designer con 2014, be sure to check out Booth #1113 where J★RYU will be selling some goods, alongside Vampy Bit Me and some special guests.

The Jelly Empire Jelly Avengers at MoCCA

by

The Jelly Empire will be at booth C-90 at MOCCA Fest this upcoming April 6 & 7 at the Armory at 68 Lexington Avenue in New York City. Presumably these sweet Jelly Avengers custom JellyBot figures will be there. Tickets are only $12 if you buy them online. The Jelly Empire and Argonaut Resins do this show every year... and considering I live on Lexington Avenue In NYC, it's probably something I should be looking into as well for Tenacious Toys. Hmmm...

Argonaut Resins Mini Pharaoh Hound in Final Stages of Development

by
Argonaut Resins recently sent over images of the development of the Mini Pharaoh Hound, a 5-inch version of the original Pharaoh Hound figure. Above is the final wax stage of the Mini Hound sculpt next to a Mini Tuttz.

Here is a great shot of the full-sized 8-inch Pharaoh Hound (painted) next to the Mini. Eric from Argonaut was sculpting the Mini Hound at Toy Fair in February so that anyone interested in this porcess could watch him work. We covered his booth and the development of the Mini Hound in our special Toy Fair issue of Compulsion Magazine for the iPad.

Above (left to right) are several Argonaut sculpts: little Sucio from our Resin is King Series 2 blind box series, then the Mini Tuttz, the Mini Pharaoh Hound and the full-size hound.

More info on the colorways, pricing and release dates of the Mini Hounds will be released by Argonaut Resins very soon. We recommend you follow their blog closely: Argonaut resin figures always sell out quickly.

The Kings of Atlantis resin skulls are back - in mini form!

by

Argonaut Resins will be releasing a all new shrunk down version of the mysterious Demi-God skulls based on the 10 King rulers of the island of Atlantis. These new mini KOA skulls feature the same design as the original larger King skulls that were released and sold out a while back.

"Ten Demi-God Kings ruled the fabled island of Atlantis thousands of years ago. They all perished when their paradise was destroyed by the Gods. All that remain are their skulls...each endowed with an incredible power that is passed onto whomever has the skull in their possession. They say too much power is not a good thing...are you willing to take a chance and find out if this is true...?"

There will be the usual multiple colors including solids, metallics, and clear tints with a few hidden (chase glow in the dark) skulls in each wave. There will be 4 waves of 25 pieces "BLIND BOXED!" with the first wave dropping next week sometime.
The last wave of mini skulls may show up at the upcoming New York Comic con if the production schedule permits.

Argonaut Resins Pharaoh Hound: first painted pics!

by
Argonaut Resins has released the first images of painted Pharaoh Hounds: Pearl White and Black Onyx colorways, with matching Tuttz cats. The Hounds are Argonaut's follow-up resin figure to the extremely popular Tuttz figures. Every single Tuttz release sold out immediately; I'd expect nothing less from these beautiful Hounds!

Each Pharaoh Hound resin figure is 8 inches tall and is handcrafted and hand painted locally in NJ by Eric Nocella Diaz of Argonaut Resins. Argonaut will be releasing more colorways during the run up to NYCC in mid-October. Eric also spoke of his plan to release a mini version of the Hound after NYCC, much like he did for the Tuttz cats.

In a collaboration with Argonaut Resins based their Sneakerhead art toy, Cookies N Cream presents "The Argo Dunks". SNEAK PEEK: Glyos x Tuttz "Bad Luck Squadron"

by
When Rob "Smack" Losito introduced END from Argonaut Resins to Matt, the creator of the Glyos line of DIY action figures, shit got real. Here's the dirt straight from END's mouth:

...as promised here are some teaser images of the secret project I'm collaborating with Onell Designs' Matt Doughty, creator of the famous Glyos. Rob Losito introduced me to Matt at the New York Comic Con last year and suggested we work together since I was a big fan of the Glyos figures. What we came up with is the Bad Luck Squadron! A fighting squad of Mini Tuttz action figures. This project was going to be a lot of work so we brought in artist Victor Durango to help with designing the bodies, accessories and all the paint work for the entire line, and the One Cam and  When Giants Meet to do the project photography. We will be releasing more images and pricing of the first wave in the near future on the Glyos site....and you know me - there will be lots of surprises in store!

Trip to MPH & the Jeremyville & Buff Monster show at Cotton Candy Machine

by
Yesterday was fun- I met up with Kris Dulfer of Kid Ink Industries and Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys to chill in NYC before Jon leaves for Japan. We stopped at Kidrobot and then popped over to MyPlasticHeart, where we met up with Eric from Argonaut Resins and Rob (who you might know as "Smack"). Also stopping in: Grim from IHeartCoolStuff, and Cho, 2 more locals. It was a regular party! We all talked toys, like true nerds, and I played with MPH's new resident puppy.

MPH just got a big Toy2R shipment so I got to play with the brand-new 7-inch Clear Qee Bear for the first time. The arm joints are AWESOME! They can go in any direction. Definitely a cool new feature. Our shipment containing these figures is arriving early next week.

After we finished bothering Vin at MPH, Kris, Jon, Rob and I hopped on the train and went to Brooklyn. We stopped in to refresh ourselves on a bar which is, conveniently, at the end of the same block as Tara McPherson's new shop & gallery, Cotton Candy Machine. KANPAI!

Here's the CCM shop, and Jon poking thru his stuff as we wait for the show to open. Jon thinks this isn't a good picture, but he's wrong. It's a GREAT picture!

Time to go in!

The show quickly became PACKED, and there were probably 100+ pieces hanging on the walls. Straight up jammed on the walls! Tara's colorful artwork meshes perfectly with Buff's use of pink and Jeremyville's cartoony style. A great show!

... and of course the Sucklord showed up and walked in screaming. Literally. He quieted down a little when I showed him where the free beer was. (THANK YOU TARA FOR THE FREE PBRs!!)

There were lots of awesome production and custom toys for sale. Here are Buff's customs of his own figures. I also saw someone buying one of Buff's Destroyers, a huge piece with silver antlers! Great day. Godspeed to Jon Malmstedt, we'll miss you buddy!
