Matt Obscure Perez Announces Unity Through Art Show

Matt "Obscure" Perez has curated a show for The Alley Gallery in Pomona, CA and has brought a very diverse list of artists together for it.  The show is titled "Unity Through Art".  The show will consist of all collaborative works.  The artist list includes: Obscure x Juan Muniz, Amber "Spiderface" Tilden x Dorys Dee, J*Ryu x Luke Chueh, Jeremy Cross x DW Frydendall, Big C x angelina nwin, and more. There was no specific theme for the art pieces, but the idea is to show unity within the art community through collaboration.  The show will open on April 20th, 2017 and will feature music, vendors, and a live art jam for all of the featured artists to take the theme of collaboration and unity further.

DCON: Angry Koala Gear x Obscure Bootlegs release

More Designer Con 2015 releases, this time from Angry Koala Gear and Obscure. Going with the mash-up bootleg offerings, Obscure created a few cool characters: Blackula Calrissean, Darth Feratu, and Lil Fett. Each figure was molded, cast and painted by Obscure, while the backer card designs were created by the Angry Koala team and produced by Dead Greedy. Here is the backstory behind Blackula Calrissean:

"He comes from the deepest parts of the ghetto.  He was visited by a space vampire, that was known as Darth Feratu.  After bitten, Darth Feratu locked him away in a coffin.  He eventually woke up on an alien planet in the clouds.  He is now on a mission to find that jive blood sucka that turned him."

Fully painted versions of Blackula Calrissean will be available from the DKE Booth #812 for $40 a piece. Fully GID versions are also going to be available, through Angry Koala Gear and Obscure's Booth #200, for $20 a piece. In addition to the Blackula Calrissean bootlegs, Obscure will have a few painted Darth Feratus and Lil Fetts for $30 a piece. Be sure to stop by Booth #200 and say hello.

Crummy Gummy Show at New York Comic Con 2015

Crummy Gummy returns to New York Comic Con only this time with some friends! Crummy Gummy’s Four Faced Gummy Bear Show will be taking place at the PIQ Booth #614 located in the Block. He hand selected 8 artists to customize his newest figure and the line up includes: Jon Paul Kaiser, Sugar Fueled, SoKo Cat, Steve Parker, The Drif, Topheroy, MannyX and Obscure. He will also be signing at the booth on Friday at 4pm.

Tenacious Toys NYCC Exclusive Blue Oop by Matt Obscure Perez

Matt Obscure Perez of Angry Koala Gear has blessed us with 15 of his 2.5" Oop figures in an exclusive blue color for NYCC! $35 each for a handful of adorable at the Tenacious Toys Booth 208.

Oop is a forest dwelling orphan.  The offspring of forbidden love... a fawn and a goblin.  He is a lonely soul, wandering the forest for companionship.

Matt Obscure Perez Day of The Dead Snow White

Matt Obscure Perez added some custom touches to this Disney Snow White doll, making her over Day Of The Dead style. Matt began with the doll looking like this:

"Ring of Fire" - A Hell Lotus Custom by Obscure

As Super Cooper's Annual group show approaches, participating artists start to reveal his/her contribution for the show which has a theme of  "Music to my ears". Matt "Obscure" Perez sent over his contribution for the show which he named "Ring of Fire". Inspired by the Social Distortion version of the Johnny Cash song, Ring of Fire, Obscure decided to make his custom using a Mighty Jaxx Hell Lotus figure.

Obscure gave the Hell Lotus figure a "greaser" look, complete with leather jacket, cuffed jeans and slicked hair. Obscure also added a Social Distortion logo on the back of the jacket and gave the guy sitting in a ring of fire, a martini glass to hold. Some very good details overall, however, some extra paint work on the flames would really make them dance. Matt "Obscure" Perez is open for commissions and will also be participating in other group shows, also being held at TAG, later this year. With Munky King shutting down it's retail location on Melrose, this years Super Cooper Annual Group show is going to be held at Toy Art Gallery. Opening night is going to be held on August 24th and the show will run until September 10th. Many local artists, including Super Cooper himself, are always expected to be in attendance at the show. Having gone to two of the shows in the past, I expect there to be a good turn out with lots of energy.

"Ah Tabai" the Mayan Warrior Hunter god by Obscure

Obscure made this custom for the Beefy & Co's custom show, " The Ghost Within Us."

It is titled, "Ah Tabai" the Mayan Warrior Hunter god.  The show will be showcased at Beefy & Co's booth at the San Diego Comic Con.  Comic Con is right around the corner, so people could keep up with the progression of the completed customs if they follow Beefy.  His website is www.beefyco.com.

New Dia de Los Muertos Hello Kitty by Obscure

Obscure has come back to revisit Dia de Los Muertos with another Hello Kitty.  This time he used a Funko Pop!
