DCON: kaNO kid Goodies - Booth 112

 

With DCON fast approaching, artists are revealing more of what he/she is going to be bringing along. Kano is bringing some great custom pieces, ranging from sketched on Munnys to hand painted Crow Dragon King customs. Kano is also bringing along some sketched stickers placed on some re-purposed spray cans and bottles. Located at Booth 112, be sure to stop by to say hello, buy some swag, and maybe even coerce Kano into providing a sketch.

If you are planning on attending DCON for one or both of the event days, save some money and purchase tickets early.

kaNO x Tristan Eaton Bodega Figure Release and Signing

Kano is coming strong with his Bodega figure. After being shelved for several years and finally getting the rights back for his original Bodega figure, Kano was able to start produce his original figure once again. This time around, Kano has collaborated with four other artists, each having a unique colorway and type of exclusivity: Toofly, Flying Fortress, Tristan Eaton, and Pez. The first release was Toofly's Pink Bodega, released on May 10th, with the signing held at My Plastic Heart. The Toofly Bodega edition is a retailers edition, in the Pink Colorway, limited to 100 pieces.

 

The Bodega figure has a great back story to it. Head on over to Kano's blog and go watch Toy Break Episode 263, to learn a bit more. As for the next release, the Kano's x Tristan Eaton Bodega is a Bait exclusive, orange colorway. Scheduled to release at Bait, in Diamond Bar on Saturday, June 29th. A signing is going to be held from 2-5pm, with both artists in attendance. Keep in mind, that signings are one of the only ways to get Kano's purple edition Bodega. Each Bodega retails for $45 and limited to 100 pieces for each artist edition(colorway). Keep an eye out on this blog for updates on the Pez and Flying Fortress releases. Go get get em! Brapp!

Flight 3" Dunny by Kano

Kidrobot and Kano, of Kanokid Studios, release the first Dunny of 2013, a 3" Dunny titled "Flight". The Dunny features a uniquely shaped head and a color scheme reminiscent of the old Transformers cartoon and toys. This Dunny design is limited to 3000 pieces and what looks to be 3 different colorways, however, there is no word on color ratios. The red, white and blue version is the main colorway, with the picture being on the Dunny box. Also, a purple and black colorway was leaked on Trampt. Nothing yet on the third colorway, but I'm hoping that the color is going to have more blues. If the color schemes look or sound familiar to anyone, just think Thundercracker or Thrust, Starscream, and Skywarp. Of course this is a reach, since there is no official word of what the influence behind Kano's design, but there seems to be more than meets the eye.

 

The Flight Dunny will be hitting stores on January 17th and will retail for $14.95 US, £12 UK, and €13.90 EU, depending on your location.

KANO's Custom Fonzo for Fonzo Love NY at MPH

Kano's custom Fonzo, for My Plastic Heart and Freakstore's Fonzo Love NY show, looks quite awesome. The color scheme works well, as does the created shadows and overall execution.. Kano did a great job utilizing the lines of the original Fonzo figure, while at the same time incorporating his own style and creating depth with just paint.

 

From Kano's WIP pic, the DOOM style mask looked to be sculpted on. The shadows and colors are on point for this piece. This piece should have no trouble selling.

 

Opening reception for Fonzo Love NY is Friday January 11th,from 6-9PM at My Plastic Heart. The show is going to run until February 3rd.

The start of 2013 is shaping up to be big for Kano. It is too bad that Kano says that this is going to be his last group show, but I'm sure Kano has big things planned instead. I can't wait to see what else Kano does this year and beyond!

Kidrobot Fatcaps Series 3 arriving Jan 27th

Look for Fatcap Series 3 blind boxes and sealed cases for sale in our Kidrobot section on Friday the 27th! This series features designs from: DEVIOUS, Flying Fortress, JPK, Julie West, KaNo, Kronk, MCA, MTN, Pez, Quisp, Queen Andrea, Scribe, SHOK-1 and Sket One. Calling this a super-star roster would be an understatement. The designs look killer. Stoked.

Andrew Bell Android Series 3 Artist Roster released!

We have just placed our order for Series 3 of the insanely popular 3" vinyl Android figures. Looks like the artist roster this series incorporates some old favorites, and some new homies: alongside the Series 2 artists Scott Tolleson, Gary Ham and Andrew Bell, we now have the KaNO Kid, Huck, SKET, MAD, Kronk and Kelly Denato. Pretty damn cool lineup. Release is scheduled for Q2 of 2012 (that some time between April and June). These will NOT be re-run, says the distributor. They will decide how many to make and just make that number. (Series 2 was re-run a few times to meet continued demand.) Not taking preorders yet (too early) but just keep in mind that we'll be selling full cases and individual BBs. If I have any left over, I'll pop some open. We'll see.
