SUM-thing wicked this way comes! New from Planet-X and Plaseebo

From PLANET-X and PLASEEBO the SUM vinyl figure will make it’s U S debut from the PLANET-X booth No.328 at the Clutter FIVE POINTS FESTIVAL in Brooklyn on June 2nd & 3rd 2018.

A few one of a kind SUM hand paints signed by Bob Conge will be available at the show, followed by the general release in July. SUM has a switched internal color-changing LED unit with replaceable batteries and inset glass eyes.

New release! Bill the Butcher limited edition kokeshi doll by Kokeshi Clan

Bill the Butcher from the film "Gangs of New York" by Martin Scorsese by Kokeshi Clan is available now ! 

A limited edition of of 10 pieces, each kokeshi doll is made of birch wood and intricately hand painted using acrylic paint, then sealed with a non-toxic matte finish. Each doll will be signed and numbered.

He will be shipped in hand made custom packaging created to resemble Bill the Butcher's top hat from the early scenes of the film. 

These kokeshi dolls are made to order and will ship out within 2-3 weeks of purchase.

One-Of Cass Jerman Beasties To Be Your Bestie

Cass Jerman @cassjerman 's been busy (but, she's never too busy for you, sugar) in the Chudfundary desert collective sculpting, casting and painting little 1-of friends.

An assortment of 15 hand painted critter sculpts which debuted at DesignerCon 2014 are available on Cass' eStore here ranging from 35-40$ea. These are 1-of paint jobs, and will not be reproduced.

Periodically Cass will post a new one-of-a-kind colorway to her instagram @cassjerman and put it up on her eStore, so follow along to stay up-to-date with the new releases. Once all these casts find homes, the molds will be retired, and a new different project will replace them, so collect your favourites!

SubUrban Vinyl Gallery Presents 1s and 2s A Custom Toilet Seat Show

Restroom, Bathroom, Washroom, Dunny (if you live down-under)... There are very few places you will return to and routinely spend more time in, than your washroom. So why is it so severely lacking in artwork? Well it doesn't have to be! This is the curatorial premise behind Sub-Urban Vinyl Gallery's upcoming "1s and 2s" Exhibition, featuring custom painted toilet seats.

Exhibition opens March 28 at Sub Urban Vinyl Gallery.

Squid Skilla by Marshall Plex of Donkey Jaw Projects

Most people think squid folk are all about the ink squirts but not this guy. Squid Skilla is all about the Krylon Auquasol paint and comes from a place that is somewhere between the slums of Atlantis and the suburbs of Bikini Bottom. 

He travels the ocean on a mission to beautify every abandoned shipwreck and underwater city wall he can find across the oceanic landscape! 

Squid Skilla is a hand cast and painted resin art toy that stands just under 3" short.

Steelbeets x SoKo Cat

 Limited to only 5 pieces, “Steelbeets” is the first of many heavy metal releases scheduled for SoKo Cat!

Always ready for action, these brawny babies have the bravery and boldness of beets twice their size!  Don’t tread on these mean dudes or you’ll be sorry!  Steelbeets are available for purchase in her store for US$25!

Each piece stands approximately 1.5 inches tall and is hand painted using acrylic paint. Hand signed and numbered by SoKo Cat!

NEXT LEVEL - Plastic Cell Marzy

  

To celebrate my triumphant return to blogging here, I'm going to do a series of posts about folks that I feel are doing "Next Level" work.

First up is the new Marzy release from Plastic Cell.

So why does this qualify as "Next Level"?

1. Double DIY:  Sculpt, mold and cast blank THEN sculpt and paint customs?  Awesome.
2. Presentation:  Full color packaging, figure with accessories and a print.  Take notes folks.
3. Price: Total package price for the Marzy figure - $89 plus shipping.  Accessible to collectors but not astronomical.  Perfect pricing.
4. Quality: Just a damn nice looking figure.  Evocative and respectful of the source without being a shameless rip off.

All the releases are based on a blank figure sculpted and cast by the Plastic Cell crew called "White Cell".  They can be purchased individually for an exceptionally reasonable $15 (mine was $22 shipped).
