Pitbull Will Be In Uglydolls Movie

by

OMG I am so excited that a pitbull will be in the Uglydolls movie!!! Yaaa

Oh.

Pitbull Comes Aboard STX's 'UglyDolls' As Voice Cast & To Pen, Perform Original Song

OK.

OK so our favorite canine will NOT be in the Uglydolls movie, but the man who has adopted our dog's moniker WILL be, so there's that. Here's the PR:

What a coup. Pitbull is coming aboard his first film to pen and perform an original song and also lend his voice to one of the key characters in STX's UglyDolls, the animated film directed by Robert Rodriguez which will launch the company's family and animation division. The film will be released in 2019.

The film, which is based on the pop culture toy of the same name, is being seen as a franchise play by Robert Simonds and his STX Entertainment as they look for Pitbull to be involved in every facet of the rollout across all company platforms - STXtv, STXdigital and STXsurreal VR.
In addition to his millions of fans around the globe, Pitbull is huge in the social media universe with over 56M fan on FB, 27M on Twitter and 6M on Instagram. He also has more than 9M subscribers on his YouTube channels.

Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, is a Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum international music star who is also business savvy.
"It's truly an honor to have the opportunity to work alongside the STX team and be involved with UglyDolls," said Perez. "The brand takes a fun approach to universal messages no matter color, culture or creed. These are themes I am passionate about, and our team is very excited about this partnership."
Pitbull will voice one of the key characters in the animated UglyDolls movie, where the UglyDolls confront what it means to be different, struggle with their desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that you don't have to be perfect to be amazing because who you truly are is what matters most.

STX Taps Hasbro to Handle UglyDolls Toys in Advance of Uglydolls Movie

by
[PRESS RELEASE]

STX Entertainment and Hasbro are joining forces in advance of the UglyDolls movie.

STX has high hopes for the whimsically unconventional line of plush dolls and it's enlisting Hasbro to be its global toy licensee. UglyDolls first hit store shelves in 2001, the brainchild of David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim.

Throughout their decade-plus history of adorable ugliness the toys have been more a novelty item than a mass-market commodity. STX wants to change that by working with Hasbro, one of the world's largest toy manufacturers. Prior to the deal, Horvath and Kim had handled manufacturing of the dolls before tapping Gund, a maker of plush products, to create the items. That pact with Gund has expired. The UglyDolls movie opens in 2019 and is being directed by Robert Rodriguez ("Spy Kids").

STX is a relatively new player in Hollywood. It launched in 2014 and has produced such movies as "Bad Moms," "The Gift," and the upcoming Amy Schumer comedy "I Feel Pretty." Along with its films, the company is backing such TV programs as "Valley of the Boom" and also recently announced it is doing a virtual reality show with Rodriguez and Michelle Rodriguez.

"When Robert Simonds conceived of STX over three years ago, the idea was to build a global media company with entertainment properties that could seamlessly move across all platforms," said Adam Fogelson, Chairman of STXfilms, in a statement. "In UglyDolls, we have exactly that - a universally appealing brand with the potential to reach a massive audience on every screen and experience, and a meaningful way into animation. It is incredibly exciting to take this next big step with a company of Hasbro's global reach, experience and influence to bring the 'Uglyverse' to longtime fans and new audiences."

"UglyDolls is a brand with deep history and tremendous equity, and we are thrilled to work with STX to bring the Uglydolls story to life in all new ways via rich storytelling and immersive play experiences," said Samantha Lomow, Senior Vice President of Hasbro, in a statement.

The UglyDolls brain trust also praised the pact.

"Our roots are deeply intertwined with a profound love for the toy industry," said Horvath. "We've been fans of Hasbro's toy lines for ages, and are great admirers of their creativity and aesthetic sensibility. We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Hasbro and STX Entertainment on the UglyDolls franchise."

In addition to the upcoming feature film, STX has UglyDolls projects in the works across the company's multiple divisions, including its television, virtual reality, and games arms.

The global master toy deal between STX Entertainment and Hasbro was brokered by Stephanie Sperber at White Space Entertainment.

Caddyshack Doody Action Bar by Forces of Dorkness

by
"That thing in the pool from that golf movie released in 1980"

If you're a golfer, you've seen it.  If you like quality comedy, you've seen it.  If you are an actual human, you've seen it... if you haven't seen it, move along.

So there's this movie, and in this movie there is this scene when everyone gets a break and they spend a nice relaxing afternoon at the pool.  During this scene, teenagers being teenagers, one opens a candy bar, and another asks for a bite, and when the first says no, into the pool doth the second one toss said candy bar.  Well, this particular brand of candy bar has a strong resemblance to something we all create, and unfortunately some tend to leave in pools, creating the comedic chaos that leads to an emptying of the pool, and revelation that it is not a doody and actually a candy bar that has a name close to a famous baseball player.

This is a tribute to the classic movie "Caddyshack", one of those films that can be watched over and over, lines can be quoted, laughs can be had, and now you can own the "unofficial" star of the film.

2 versions of this release are available, one as the name of the candy bar, and one as "doody" so your choice is the before, or the after.  Each version is limited to 18 pieces (golf has 18 holes...get it?) for this release.

Each package come with an inedible resin cast of said candy bar and custom card art and packaging from The Forces of Dorkness.

This is the perfect gift for that special someone who appreciates an amazing film.

Each package is 9" h x 5.25" wide x 1.5" deep and ships with a couple of stickers as well to show how much you love The Forces of Dorkness

Shipping in the US is $3.99 via USPS.

Note:  This is not a fucking toy.  It is also not edible, and more so it is only for ages 18 and up.

The figure is available in the FoD store: http://forcesofdorkness.storenvy.com

Are You Ready for the My Little Pony Movie?

by
Hasbro is partnering with Lionsgate to bring its My Little Pony franchise to the big screen.

The news comes just a month after the partners also announced plans for a live-action film based on Hasbro's Monopoly board game.

Meghan McCarthy, writer and producer for the "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" animated series will pen the screenplay, which will be produced by Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures.

The film, which will be Hasbro’s first animated feature, will be distributed and marketed globally (except in China) by Lionsgate, and Tony and Emmy award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth has already been tapped to voice one of the characters.

“We are thrilled to expand the My Little Pony story to the big screen, and take these beloved characters on a new and unexpected journey that will delight fans of all ages,” says Stephen Davis, chief content officer, Hasbro. “It’s an honor to add Kristin Chenoweth to the cast as the voice of an all new, never-before-seen My Little Pony character in the film. Her incredible Broadway and silver screen performances in 'Wicked, 'Glee' and many more make her the perfect fit for this animated, musical adventure.”

In the movie, a new dark force threatens Ponyville, and the Mane 6 must embark on a journey beyond Equestria to save their home.

“We are pleased to partner with Hasbro to bring their brands to audiences in new and exciting ways,” says Erik Feig, co-president, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “Meghan McCarthy and the My Little Pony cast are a very talented and cohesive team whom we’re happy to be working with, and we’re excited about the addition of the very talented Kristin Chenoweth, as we explore new aspects of these characters and new story opportunities for the franchise.”

UGLYDOLL Film planned by STX Entertainment

by
STX ENTERTAINMENT
TO LAUNCH FAMILY/ANIMATION AND CONSUMER PRODUCTS/LICENSING DIVISIONS WITH EYE TOWARD DEVELOPING PROJECTS ACROSS FILM, TELEVISION, DIGITAL AND CONSUMER PRODUCTS ARENAS

- Studio Enters Rights Agreement with UGLYDOLL Toy Line as First Significant Investment for New Divisions -

(Burbank, May 28, 2015) - STX Entertainment has announced the launch of a family and animation division geared toward creating multi-platform family franchises across film, television and digital. Additionally, the studio will be establishing a consumer products, licensing and merchandising arm to take full advantage of the extended opportunities provided by these properties.  STX has identified the first project that will be developed for the family audience and has entered a partnership with beloved iconic toy brand UGLYDOLL as a leading pillar of the studio's new division.  The agreement was co-announced today by Adam Fogelson, chairman of the motion picture group for STX Entertainment, and Drew Matilsky, Managing Partner of Pretty Ugly LLC. STX expects the first step of this collaboration to be the development of a full-scale animated feature, with plans to explore future projects for other platforms shortly thereafter.

The UGLYDOLL universe is the distinctive and highly regarded toy brand created by David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim along with Drew Matilsky, the founders of parent company Pretty Ugly LLC.  Horvath and Matilsky will serve as executive producers on the new movie. Gigi Pritzker and OddLot Entertainment are also set to co-produce the film.

Populated by satirical, playful, and off-kilter characters that go by names like Wage, Babo, Ice-Bat and Wedgehead, the "uglyverse" is a world in which the traditional definition of "ugly" is turned on its head as it celebrates characters who are distinctive, special and different. Started in 2001 when Horvath signed a letter to Kim, his college sweetheart, with a drawing of a monster with unconventional proportions, the UGLYDOLL brand quickly grew into a universe of colorful and nuanced characters.

"We created UGLYDOLL on the premise that real beauty is found in the little twists and turns that make us who we are," said Horvath. "We could not be more excited or optimistic about the future of the UGLYDOLL universe in the hands of the STX Entertainment team. In the past, we have been strategically organic and restrained in developing our business and, with STX now on board as our partners, we look forward to significantly growing the awareness and presence of these unique and lovable characters.  We are thrilled to have the most creative, capable and experienced minds in the entertainment industry approaching our uglyverse in a very holistic, 360 degree way. STX understands what makes us distinctive and relatable and they are committed to maintaining the integrity of what makes these dolls so special."

Fogelson added, "We are thrilled to enter the family arena, and honored to have our first project be based on the UGLYDOLL universe.  David and Drew have not just created toys, they have created an alternative way to view the world and the people around us.  The creative vision behind these dolls is extremely detailed and very rich for storytelling across many platforms.   The moment you see these characters, you get their whole world immediately. They are endearing yet fundamentally flawed in some real and identifiable way. That's what makes them so relatable. Kids and adults love these characters because we all can understand the challenges and triumphs of being different."

"UGLYDOLL's singular approach to creating loveable, nuanced characters provides immense creative fuel to build a narrative anchored around the bevy of characters that make up the 'uglyverse,'" said Gigi Pritzker, Chief Executive Officer of OddLot Entertainment.

Explained Sophie Watts, President of STX Entertainment, "As we launch our new animation and family division, and begin to identify other partnerships with long-term potential across our company, we believe this is the ideal first vehicle to cultivate and grow with creative care and expert handling. UGLYDOLL is a genuine gem with enormous creative upside, not only in the feature film world, but also for television, digital, gaming and many other platforms. This brand is the perfect launch pad to create a strong foundation in animation as well as a licensing and merchandising arm for our business. In particular, a full-scale feature will propel the UGLYDOLL brand into a global platform and broaden the considerable acclaim and recognition that UGLYDOLL already has in Asia, where STX has also built a number of strategic partnerships."

"I'm Scared" A Stop Motion Film from Greg "Craola" Simkins

by
Name THREE things you’re scared of….NOW!
#imscaredthemovie
(click my profile link for info or click here: http://kck.st/13ftPMp )

For most artists, being able to transcend a single medium and/or genre is a goal that typically leads to career longevity. Not all artists can make a living in a single niche, nor can they satisfy that creative instinct, without somehow diversifying. Greg "Craola" Simkins' latest endeavor will definitely open new doors of inspiration for established artists and newcomers alike. Coming off of a successful book launch and with the help of a Kickstarter and C4toons, Greg Simkins is hoping to take his "I'm Scared" theme to a whole new level with a stop motion film aptly titled: "I'm Scared".

From the "I'm Scared" A Stop Motion Film by Greg "Craola" Simkins Kickstarter page:
Greg “Craola” Simkins is an inspired and ambitious artist with a widely collected and highly coveted body of work. It is his careful weaving of pop culture, the old masters, nature, carnival kitsch, and (most importantly) his warped imagination that makes Greg a sought-after surrealist painter today. (taken from ImScared.com) I’m Scared is a recurring theme in Greg’s art. "I'm Scared" is the age old story of the conflict between the imaginations of little boys and the monsters they battle on a nightly basis. It is also the story of the dynamics of brothers and how each looks at the world through completely different eyeballs. "Just becasue you grew up, doesn't mean they went away." -GS

With tons of great rewards being offered, there is sure to be something for everyone. Collectors and fans of Craola will find that this Kickstarter is a great opportunity to fund a great project, while at the same time getting rewarded (depending on a pledged amount) with an original painting, an original sketch, an awesome print, or even a painting session with Greg at his studio in LA. Being a fan of Craola, I found it difficult to choose only one reward, which should be considered a good thing, due to all the great rewards available. At the very least, help spread the word of this awesome Kickstarter and if willing, make a pledge for one of the many awesome rewards.

As the Kickstarter moves forward, expect updates and changes to be announced, as is typical with most every Kickstarter project.
