DCON 2016 Booth #435 - Munky King

by
Designer Con Booth #435 is going to be the home of Munky King and some goodies they will be bringing along. Luke Chueh's Headspace "Bears, Rabbits, Devils, Oh My!" Official Set #1 will make it's debut at DCon 2016. The set includes 3 different heads, with Luke Chueh on hand for some signings, to be announced at a later time. This is not an exclusive release and will also be available online for purchase. In addition to the latest Headspace set, Luke Chueh and the Munky King crew are hoping to have "The Prisoner(Vicodin)" available for purchase as well. "The Prisoner" is a wonderful piece, which touches on substance abuse, showing Luke's Bear in a huddled position and packaged in a pill case. The prototype was seen at SDCC 2016. In addition to Luke Chueh's pieces, Munky King will have the latest colorway for Kozyndan's Kuronamigami. Limited to just 50 pieces, initial sales will take place at DCon 2016. Prices for all these pieces are TBD. If you are in the area, be sure to pick up tickets to Designer Con 2016 now.

DabsMyla's "Trouble Trouble (Mono)" for NYCC!

by

The duo of DabsMyla recently released their first designer toy, Trouble Trouble, in partnership with Munky King. Featuring 7.5" tall dynamite stick Mr. Freddy Powerful and his best buddy, the lit match Little Sparky, this vinyl figure set harkens back to the Golden Age of American animation, so what would be more appropriate than a Monotone Edition?

Limited to an edition of 100 pieces, this New York Comic Con exclusive version will be available solely from Clutter Magazine's NYCC booth #603 for $80 apiece!

Jon-Paul Kaiser Customs at SDCC 2015 Munky King Booth

by
This year, Munky King has asked a number of artists to customize Munky King produced pieces, to be on display and for sale at SDCC 2015. Jon-Paul Kaiser customized a number of pieces that will be a part of the display. Here is the line-up that Jon-Paul Kaiser was able to complete for Munky King:
  • Screaming for the Sunrise - "This Is My Sunrise"
  • Koibito - "The Forgotten River"
  • Pink Elephants - "Civil Disobedience"
  • Uprisings - "Great Wave"
Each one of these pieces features Jon-Paul's common black and white paint scheme, while also adding some color, when necessary, to make the pieces pop even more. For those attending SDCC 2015, these pieces, as well as all the other artist customs, will be on display and for sale during the convention. Be sure to follow Munky King on social media because if by chance any of the pieces don't sell out, they may be put up for sale after the con is over. All the provided photos of completed pieces were taken by the excellent photographer, Justin Allfree. Hopefully, Jon-Paul Kaiser will be able to make it over to the US for a future convention (like DCON).

This latest colorway is going to be released on Munky Kings online store and is priced at $50 plus shipping. Live Art Battle at Munky King During SDCC

by
My man Jordan (aka Dope Vinyl) has been traveling the world, recording the antics of as many artists as he can get into his viewfinder... You may recall that we (collectively) funded Jordan's travels via Kickstarter as he endeavors to document the current state of the custom/vinyl/toy art scene.

Check the sweet video he shot at Munky King during SDCC, complete with killer soundtrack. Munky King hosted a crazy art battle involving Woes, Jeremiah Ketner, Martin Hsu, Dez Einswell, Jerome Lu. Podgy Panda, Food One, Mike Huddleston, DEPH, Rocom, Gmonik & Jorge Gutierrez. Spanky Stokes hosted. Who won? Gotta watch the video to find out!

You can help fund Jordan's travels by buying customs from his shop! Dude's gotta eat, you know? I am sure we will be blessed with a fucking amazing documentary when he is done. Def stay tuned.
