Live Free Podcast Group Show at The Daniel Rolnik Gallery

5 years ago, Mike Maxwell started a podcast, to fill a void he saw existed in the art world. Mike wanted to interview visual artists and have them tell their story. Starting out interviewing friends and contemporaries, 171 episodes later, Mike can celebrate the 5 year anniversary of his endeavor. To Celebrate, Mike contacted the worlds most adorable art critic Daniel Rolnik, about having a group art show. Of course, Daniel jumped on the opportunity to host such a huge event and on November 7th, "Live Free Podcast Group Show" will have it's opening reception at the Daniel Rolnik Gallery. Featuring a long list of artists, the show is sure to be a wonderful event. Anyone within decent driving distance of Santa Monica, should make a plan to head on down to the opening reception and take in some art.

The opening reception will take place on NOVEMBER 7th from 7pm - 11pm at Daniel Rolnik Gallery - 1431 Ocean Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90401.

Free parking is available in the public Santa Monica city lots on 2nd Street at Santa Monica Blvd, Broadway, or Colorado. Street Parking is also available.

Vinyl Azteca group Show by The Clutter Gallery

The Clutter Gallery is currently showing a group Mesoamerican Themed Exhibition titled Vinyl Azteca. With the opening reception occurring on April 11th at Clutter Gallery in Beacon, NY, the show will run until May 1st. All pieces are available to purchase online, as well as in person at the gallery. Plaseebo's Custom Nyagiras for The Custom Nyagiras Show by Max Toy Co

On April 10th, Max Toy Co is going to have a Custom Nyagira Show, an online group art show utilizing the Nyagira as the platform. 14 artists were given blank, unpainted vinyl Nyagira figures and Plaseebo created two pieces for the show, each being a one of a kind vinyl tank mash-up. Featuring glass inset eyes and internal motion activated color changing LEDs, each Plaseebo Cat Tank has been hand painted using Monster Kolor paints. Priced at $400 each, each piece is signed and dated 2015. Be sure to check out these and all the other customs on Max Toy Co, once the show goes live on April 10th.

Plaseebo for the Skullbrainer Show at Clutter Gallery

Clutter and Super7 have teamed up to present Skullbrainer at Clutter Gallery. Opening on March 14th and running until April 3, Skullbrainer is a show around Kaiju and Other Strangeness. The artist Plaseebo has created 2 pieces for Skullbrainer, the first is Gnaw-X #3, a custom 8.5" vinyl custom. Using a Plaseebo Gnaw head and a Skull Head Butt "X" butt body, Gnaw-X #3 also features glass inset eyes and a motion activated LED unit, with replaceable batteries.

Plaseebo's second piece is called "Franken Tanken". This piece is a custom hand cast resin piece, which also features an LED unit which allows the piece to be lit up, which shows up pretty well in a dark room. A switch at the bottom allows the LED to be switched on and off. Both pieces will be available at the Skullbrainer show, which is going to be first come, first served for people attending the opening. All remaining pieces will become available online after the initial opening.

Art of The Tag Group Show by Boundless Brooklyn at My Plastic Heart NYC

Boundless Brooklyn is having an art show at My Plastic Heart in NYC called "The Art Of The Tag: The Painted Water Water of NYC". Centered around customizing Boundless Brooklyn's Model Water Tanks, "The Art Of The Tag" show features works by a long list of awesome artists. All artists were asked to customize one of Boundless Brooklyn's Model Tanks, essentially "tagging" the mini replicas. Artists have been teasing WIP pieces, as well as completed Towers all over social media and the results are amazing. Be sure to follow Boundless Brooklyn on Instagram and also check out the gallery on the Boundless Brooklyn website, there is a lot of great work to be seen. For those in the area, opening reception for "The Art of The Tag Show" will take place on Saturday, November 1st, from 7-10pm. The show will run from November 1st til November 21st at My Plastic Heart NYC.

Boundless Brooklyn's Model Water Tanks come in 3 different sizes, the Micro, Mini and Mega. The Micro Tower measures in at 2 3/8" L x 2 3/8" W x 5" L, with the Mini Tower measuring 5" L x 5" W x 10 3/4" H, up to the Mega Tower which measures 7 1/2" L x 7 1/2" W x 15 1/2" H. "Masked" Group Art Show - SubUrban Vinyl

Going on now at SubUrban Vinyl is their latest group art show, titled "Masked". Featuring art pieces from a number of wonderful artists, each piece centers around the mask theme. An appropriate show for being held during Halloween time. Many pieces are actual custom masks, where others have a mask theme. Even though opening night occurred on Saturday, October 25th, all of the remaining pieces can be seen and purchased through SubUrban Vinyl's online store. "Music to My Ears" Birthday Art Show by Super Cooper

Music to My Ears is a group show curated by, now teen, Super Cooper Berella. A yearly birthday celebration and art show, previously held at the Munky King retail store, is opening at Toy Art Gallery in LA on August 24th. Every year, Super Cooper manages to gather a great group of artists to create both 2D and 3D pieces of art, all around a unified theme. This years theme revolves around the influence of music to each artist, or his/her interpretation of the term "Music to My Ears". It's not uncommon for artists to post a picture on Instagram/twitter/vine/etc, while also commenting on the music he/she is listening too, zoning out to whatever genre seems to fit with the current mood.

From Super Cooper: 

“As an artist and curator myself, I love music because it helps me power my creative circle. In other words, it helps me think of ideas and controls my art. Music can soothe me through trance, or pump me up with dubstep. This can cause effect on my characters and ideas by giving me expression. The expression leads to many ideas that transfer into my art. I hope that this show, “Music to My Ears,” will take you through that same journey and through a trip of music wonderland.”

Super Cooper is going to be 14 years old and in the past few years that I've known about him, his passion for art in general, never ceases to amaze me. While the young Super Cooper is an already accomplished curator, Super Cooper is also a budding artist and avid collector, with his collection being a finalist for 2013 Designer Toy Awards. If that wasn't enough, Super Cooper is also a philanthropist, with some proceeds for his curated shows typically getting donated to a charity or two. Proceeds this year will benefit CHAMPS and Book Bridge.


For anyone who can make it, the opening reception will happen at Toy Art Gallery on August 24th from 7-10PM. The show will run until September 10th and many local artists are sure to be in attendance. It'll be a great party, so arrive early and hang out with all of those in attendance.
