The Crow Custom Muttpop Dr. Destruction by Jon-Paul Kaiser

Jon-Paul Kaiser has been pretty busy lately, prepping for his trip to California to attend Designer Con 2015. All this show prep doesn't stop him from continuing to deliver on completed commissions. Jon-Paul's latest delivered commission is a custom Dr. Destruction figure, by Muttpop. The Crow, Eric Draven, emerges from the Dr. Destruction figure, after a weekend of sculpting and endless sanding. This custom required a bit more sculpting work, due to the shape of the original head and intended completed result. Sticking to a simple color palette, JPK was able to create movement in the long coat and pants, as well as the added crow sitting on the shoulder. A nice completed commission, that should make the private collector happy. Photos were taken by Justin Allfree. Our latest online custom show is an open-call show with new entries released online on a rolling basis.

Using the 3" MuttPop Gobi figure as a platform, the Rollin Gobi Show is geared towards encouragement and promotion of emerging artists. With an extremely low-cost entry (we are selling platforms for the show at $1 each), this show will serve as a launching point for artists who are just starting to try their hand at customizing vinyl toys.

"This show is a nod to our very first custom show which we threw many years ago, the brainchild of veteran artist Mike 'NEMO' Mendez," Tenacious Toys CEO Benny Kline explains. "That was such a positive and pivotal experience for me personally, with a large group of artists- all total strangers to me at the time- eager to participate. That open-call show led to numerous friendships and business relationships: NEMO, Dead Hand Toys, RSIN, Suckadelic, Rolo, OsirisOrion, Nasty Neil, Ian Ziobrowski, Den Ramos, Jeremy Brautman, and many, many more. Putting on an open-call show really set us off in the direction that we're still going in today!"

To enter the Rollin Gobis show, artists should visit the Rollin Gobis page on the Tenacious Toys website in the Shows section and purchase up to five of the $1 Gobis. Tenacious Toys will email each potential participant a contract to sign and return, and then mail out the Gobis. Full text of the contract is available to read prior to purchase within the Rollin Gobi product page.

Participation in the Rollin Gobi show offers artists the opportunity to harness the promotional energy of the Tenacious Toys system, which includes press releases, blog posts, social media posts, email lists and backlinks back to the artist's own website.

Best of all, the artist retains control over their own custom Gobi, hanging onto it until it is sold by Tenacious Toys. No funny business.

Wreck It Ralph Custom Muttpop Tequila by Jon-Paul Kaiser

Even with Designer Con 2014 later this week, Jon-Paul Kaiser is still getting some commission work done and handed off, before making the long plane ride to Pasadena, California. His latest delivered commission is Jon-Paul's take on Wreck It Ralph, using a custom Muttpop Tequila figure. Jon-Paul was basically provided with an idea by the customer, who wanted a Wreck It Ralph custom, but didn't have a figure in mind for the base. Jon-Paul was drawn to the Muttpop Tequila figure, since Muttpop was one of the first companies which drew Jon-Paul into collecting vinyl toys. Essentially, the Tequila figure makes Wreck It Ralph a buffed out version of himself. Jon-Paul left most of the original Tequila figure in tact, while keeping to a clean and simple design. With a re-sculpted head and expert paint application, Jon-Paul was able to really bring Wreck It Ralph to life. All the photos were taken by Justin Allfree, Jon-Paul's go to photographer. For those heading to Designer Con 2014, be sure to attend one of Jon-Paul Kaiser's signings to not only grab a sketch, but maybe some custom work he may bring along.

Muttpop Tequila Available Again

Great news: after not being available on the US market for a spell, Muttpop's vinyl Tequila figure is now available again! They are $60 each. JC Rivera Tequila custom commission

I am constantly completely impressed by JC Rivera's consistently excellent customs. I've never seen a poor or even average piece from him. Every single piece is top-notch. 

This is JC's recent commission: a Muttpop Tequila figure. With huge muscles on a fairly large platform, the Tequila figure has always begged to be customized. This character is Albert "El Pheonix" Huertas.  

The undefeated champ fought his last fight at the age of 45 to show the world that he was still the #1 in world.
