Nugglife Hustling with NEW Apparel, Pins, Custom Toys and Paintings

by
http://www.nugglifeny.com/#intro

Ian writes:

It's been a hectic past 2 months building the Nugglife Brand.  Making the first big move into expanding and becoming more than just an art/toy based company.  For almost 9 months prior to this past NYCC we have been in full motion, expanding into cut n sew clothing.  Expressing the brand in a premium urban designer wear inspired by the New York hustler. We keep the quality of the apparel on the same plane as our art. Relating the two is important to us, and as the series builds it allows us to fully expand bringing our characters lifestyle into apparel.

Be ready as we have full collab resin pieces and customs dropping the next couple months, and a full winter drop.  Peep all the goodies dropped at NYCC this past month! NYCC 2016 was the first official launch of the Nugglife Brand as whole.

'KOLORSTORM: The Art of Louie "KR.ONE" Gasparro' Available on Amazon Now

by
NYC graffiti art, heavy metal, comic books, and fantasy art intersect here in Louie “KR.ONE” Gasparro’s visual autobiography. This legendary Queens artist-drummer weaves these powerful influences into a medium he calls "Graffantasy," creating tags, wall pieces, paintings and illustrations, model trains, jackets, and more.

Gaze at this modern Renaissance man’s work from 1977 to the present, and trace his evolution from his adolescent days watching bombed subway cars whirring by in a KOLORSTORM, to the underground period tagging trains and evading cops, to his legal works and whole–school buses. Starting with a scrapbook-like photo collection from Louie’s youth and his other career as drummer of several heavy metal bands, the book moves on with elaborate sketches from the artist’s blackbooks, and colorful concert posters and album covers.

Through a stunning array of styles and techniques, witness KR.ONE’s transformation from restless punk to major decorative artist and abstract painter.

We've enjoyed working with Louie on several different projects and shows, including his participation in The Grand Slam All City Style show, painting several commissioned ACS trains for Bigshot Toyworks and Klim, and painting live at the Bigshot booth at two successive NY International Toy Fairs. Louie is both a talented artist, and a great guy. Support Queens artists!

MIST Solo Show at Wall Works New York Opens Saturday June 6 in the Bronx

by
Worth posting: A gallery called Wall Works New York in the Bronx will be hosting French graffiti legend MIST in his first solo exhibition ever in New York! Opening reception is Saturday June 6 from 5-8pm. There will also be a limited-edition print available through the gallery, so it's highly recommended that you make your way to Wall Works, which is located at:
 39 Bruckner Blvd, Bronx, NY.

Why am I telling you about a gallery show? Because MIST has designed some of my favorite art toys. We even have a couple in the shop, available for purchase: his Lucius character (to the right), and the giant Holybrikus. Buy your own MIST toys here.

MIST's toy designs mimic his signature angular characters and shapes he applies to walls and canvases. You can even see echoes of the classic MIST toy shapes in the 2D piece above. Looking at the toys next to his graffiti and more abstract painterly piece, you can definitely pick out a signature style which is consistent throughout his work.

Foox interviewed in Creem about his New Money show

by
I had the distinct pleasure of attending the opening night party of Foox's New Money show at a hidden back bar in the ridiculously swank Beautique next to The Plaza and the Fifth Ave Apple store.

This was the first time in my life I was escorted into hidden lounge literally through the kitchen... One of those quintessentially New York "Baller Moments" you only see in movies.

When I tell you that Foox operates at the next level, this is why.

Check his short but sweet interview in Creem Magazine here:

Coffee and Fried Chicken!

by
M and R, stars of the Coffee and Fried Chicken blog

And now for something completely different...

Coffee & Fried Chicken (in addition to being a delicious gastronomic combo) is a new blog from Kun-I Chang and Shihwen Lin.  The New York-based duo's blog features the daily life and interactions of R, a white rabbit who lives on coffee and M, a black monkey who loves fried chicken (that's straight from the description, don't send your letters and postcards my way).  I'll let the creators explain it.

Coffee & Fried Chicken was born on April, 7th, 2012 When M and R exchanged their vows.

M designed the monkey & rabbit characters as the body doubles for themselves, and together they share their story with friends and families through the two characters.

Since both M and R are a bit camera shy, they decide to use monkey & rabbit to capture little moments in their lives.

While the concept seems strange, the characters are cute, the photography is beautiful and the stories look fun to follow.
