"Molotov Man" Custom Tequila Vinyl by Patrick Wong

Canadian illustrator and artist Patrick Wong shows his new piece simply titled "Molotov Man" transforming the custom vinyl figure into a bomb throwing rebel.

Created as a commissioned artwork, Patrick's Molotov Man repeats the motif seen in many of his past vinyl and resin releases including fusions with pop culture icons, Optimus Prime and Mickey Mouse.

The piece was produced from Muttpop's 8" Tequila Classico vinyl figure and comes complete fabric bandana and sculpted "Pepsi" bottle.

"Backpacker" Custom Spray Can Vinyl by Patrick Wong

Canadian illustrator and artist Patrick Wong shows his new custom vinyl piece titled "Backpacker" produced for a private collector.

The graffiti themed character is created with a hoodie, backpack, glowing eyes, and a "Backjumps" logo sweater (a homage to the graffiti magazine).

At 7" tall, the "Backpacker" is at life size to a real spray 12 oz. spray can and comes complete with a New York Fat Cap. The piece was produced on Discordia Merchandising's DIY Spray Can vinyl figure.

Emblem of an Abstract Riot no.2 resin sculpture release by Patrick Wong

Patrick Wong is proud to announce the release of his latest resin sculpture entitled "Emblem of an Abstract Riot no.2".

The artwork further explores the theme of failure in protest, riot, and revolt common in many of the art toys and customs from the artist in recent years. It is also the followup piece to the 2015 released resin sculpture "Emblem of an Abstract Riot".

Cast in solid urethane resin and features an extinguished wick within a molotov cocktail, the piece riffs on The Simpsons cartoon with various elements appropriated directly from the show.

"Emblem of an Abstract Riot no.2" measures 6 x 6 x 3.75 inches. Available to order through the artist's webshop, the handcrafted resin art-multiples are priced at $200 and available for a limited time.

New Release "ST-60" by Patrick Wong fuses the Stormtrooper and the Sampler

Patrick Wong announces his latest art figure preorder for "ST-60", a visual mashup of the Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet and the Akai MPC60 sampler. The new release should appeal to fans of Star Wars and music producers who worked with MPCs during lives.

The "ST-60" is the followup version to his own piece "ST-1200" completed back in December of 2015. Due to the popularity of that artwork, Wong decided to produce a small limited edition run of figures in a similar strategy but this time fusing the Stormtrooper with the popular MPC60 12-bit sampling drum machine first released in 1988.

Available for a short time until Feb. 4th, 2017. The limited edition figure is priced at $145, each piece is individually numbered, and includes an accessory "floppy disk". TR-808 Inspired Resin Figure from Patrick Wong

After completing his 13-piece Beats Series that traced a genealogy of sampler technology, he now turns his attention to a synthesizer. Best known for it's sub kick drum that has been heard and felt on countless tracks since 1980, the 808 inspired figure will surely appeal to pro audio enthusiasts and beat producers alike.

ICYMI: Rey Custom Fonzo by Patrick Wong for HERoes Show at P!Q

P!Q Products recently opened a show titled HERoes, highlighting female heroes in pop culture. Patrick Wong decided to focus on a more recent blockbuster with his custom Fonzo, creating "Rey" from the latest Star Wars movie. "Rey" comes complete with her staff, as well as a BB-8 accessory which stands at 4". This piece, along with all the other submissions will be on display at P!Q Grand Central Station and will run until February 29th. ST 1200 Custom Stormtrooper Helmet by Patrick Wong

Canadian artist Patrick Wong reveals his latest custom vinyl figure titled "ST 1200" juxtaposing the iconic Stormtrooper helmet with the music producer's favorite 12-bit sampling drum machine, the Emu Systems SP 1200.

The "ST 1200" was created with a readymade 3.5" floppy disk drive, found floppy disks, handcrafted resin faders, and an Apoxie Sculpt-modified Stormtrooper helmet. The piece was originally scheduled to exhibit in a Stormtrooper show earlier this month, but due to a limited shipping window, Wong decided not rush the artwork and withdrew from the show.

The one-off custom was available beginning Friday Dec. 18th at his webshop, but has since been sold.

Patrick Wong's New "Burner" Fatcap Commissions

Canadian artist Patrick Wong shares his latest custom toys titled "Burner" in 3" and 6". Both of the fiery creations are produced on the Kidrobot Fatcap platform and commissioned by a Canadian collector.

The "Burner" is taken from the graffiti term to describe a well-done and elaborate piece. Using this idea, Wong takes the Fatcap vinyl and illustratively sets it ablaze against a backdrop of a city. Similar to the way the South Bronx burned in the 1970s.

The 6" version of the "Burner" Fatcap is complemented by an accessory gas can with the character's name and "danger" written along the side.

Based on an original design by Wong, "Burner" is the fourth 6" Fatcap produced after creating pieces with themes of freezing, paint mixing, and corrosion.

New Custom "Revolt" Mickiv by Patrick Wong

A brand new custom vinyl art toy by Patrick Wong has been revealed today titled "Revolt Mickiv" which continues the theme of riot and rebellion characterized by much of his current artwork. The 8" tall commissioned artwork was created from a modified OG colorway of Arkiv Vilmansa's Mickiv figure originally produced by Visual Ark.

The "Revolt Mickiv" repositions the original figure and poses him to throw a molotov cocktail explosive at some unseen forces. Once again Patrick Wong takes up the iconic Molotov Man motif and reimagines him in combination with a vinyl figure.

The piece will join a privately curated collection of artist-interpreted Mickiv figures.

Emblem of an Abstract Riot Resin Sculpture by Patrick Wong

Canada based artist Patrick Wong, has created a lot of customs inspired by the iconic image of the Molotov Man. Patrick's latest creation is an art multiple, created from an original sculpture, called Emblem of an Abstract Riot. The piece is a dismembered cartoon hand, clutching a molotov cocktail, representing a failed uprising. Measuring around 6" x 6" x 3.75", each piece will come with a signed and numbered Declaration of Authenticity. Priced at $150 plus shipping ($25 to the US), Emblem of an Abstract Riot will be available for purchase on April 28th, at 9PM PDT. It is also noted that this piece has been held by Customs in the past, due to the nature of it's subject.

Molotov Deathshead Brothers by Patrick Wong

It looks like someone's collection of David Flores' Deathhead Mickeys has grown a bit more, thanks to Patrick Wong's latest creation. Molotov Deathshead Brothers is one of Patrick's latest completed commissions. Recreating, once again, the iconic Molotov cocktail pose, Patrick was able to reposition the Deathshead Mickey to give it more of the iconic looking pose, complete with cocktail in hand. This should make an excellent addition to the growing collection it's being added to.

J Dilla Inspired Resin/Vinyl Custom Toy Release by Illustrator Patrick Wong

Canadian illustrator Patrick Wong is set to release his hand-crafted designer toy commemorating the late hip hop producer/emcee J-Dilla September 16th, 2014. The extremely limited edition part-resin / part-vinyl Madl measures 7 inches high and available to only 10 pieces worldwide with one original sculpt.

The release is based on the legendary Detroit producer/emcee of Slum Village who had produced a series of memorable tracks for artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Busta Rhymes, Mos Def among others before dying at the age of 32.

The 7 inch J Dilla aka Jay Dee designer toy comes with an accessory mini record crate featuring a Bobby Caldwell LP. Caldwell's "Open Your Eyes" from this album was sampled by J Dilla and eventually lead to a Grammy nomination in 2001 for Common's "The Light".

9 of the 10 numbered pieces will be available to order at Patrick's webshop on Tuesday, September 16th, 2014 at 9:00AM PST or 12:00 PM Eastern. Each are priced at $150 plus trackable shipping.

The original sculpt/custom toy (based on a 5" MadL platform toy) will be exhibited at the Vinyl Thoughts 5 art show September 25th, 2014 at The Quixotic World in Deep Ellum - Dallas, Texas.

Molotov Man Optimus Prime by Patrick Wong

August 1st brings the "Children of the 80's" art show to the Guzu Gallery in Austin. Patrick Wong's submission to the show is a Transformers design entitled "Molotov Man Optimus Prime". Patrick Wong took an 8" DIY Optimus Prime Vinyl figure from The Loyal Subjects and created a wonderful custom from it. "Molotov Man Optimus Prime" references an iconic photograph taken in 1979 by Susan Meiselas, which depicts a rebel soldier ready to throw a molotov cocktail one of the last remaining Somoza National Guard. The image has been re-imagined many times, with one of the more famous art pieces being produced by Banksy. Patrick's version is the latest recreation, in 3D form. Patrick Wong took the original DIY 8" Optimus Prime figure and reworked it to give it the leaning stance, as well as a very clean color scheme.

New Resin SP1200 Inspired Figure by Patrick Wong

Illustrator Patrick Wong has just released a 3" limited edition resin toy entitled "SP1200" (after the legendary sampling drum machine of the same name) targeting beat producers, toy collectors, and connoisseurs of classic hip hop culture.

The SP1200 resin toy is the second release in the "Beats" series. The series sets out to create a genealogy of samplers from the late 80s to 2000s such as the MPC60 and Maschine, marking an evolution of both in technology and music. The Emu SP1200 sampling drum machine ushered in a new era of music composition in 1987 by allowing artists to sample parts of breakbeats and appropriating them to create "new" productions.

Like the MPC60 (previously announced), the SP1200 was known for it's distinctive lo-fi 12-bit aesthetic and made popular by producers such as Pete Rock and Lord Finesse. 

The SP1200 resin toy begins shipping Friday July 14, 2014 and is available for $40 plus shipping in Patrick's store. Comes with a numbered card, accessory toy break record (The Honeydrippers "Impeach the President" 45), and is limited to 50 pieces.
