Patrick Wong's New "Burner" Fatcap Commissions

Canadian artist Patrick Wong shares his latest custom toys titled "Burner" in 3" and 6". Both of the fiery creations are produced on the Kidrobot Fatcap platform and commissioned by a Canadian collector.

The "Burner" is taken from the graffiti term to describe a well-done and elaborate piece. Using this idea, Wong takes the Fatcap vinyl and illustratively sets it ablaze against a backdrop of a city. Similar to the way the South Bronx burned in the 1970s.

The 6" version of the "Burner" Fatcap is complemented by an accessory gas can with the character's name and "danger" written along the side.

Based on an original design by Wong, "Burner" is the fourth 6" Fatcap produced after creating pieces with themes of freezing, paint mixing, and corrosion.

Patrick Wong is an artist and illustrator based in Vancouver, Canada. Patrick Wong´s Frozen Sparvar custom Fatcap

This custom blew me away. I have no idea how he is doing this...

So here's a new custom 6" fatcap entitled "Frozen Sparvar" continuing from my "Frozen Krylon" piece from November. The concept was based around this old school way of mixing enamel spray cans back in the day by freezing an almost full can upside-down in the freezer to create custom colors for graffiti pieces. Of course before the art spraypaint like Montana and Ironlak came into vogue.

This time around I took up Sparvar because it was the European equivalent through the 80s and 90s for Krylon here in the US and Canada. I saw it as that exotic spray brand your friend might have an empty can of. It had a "tuff" attitude and favored by a lot of German writers. You would see it as a character in a piece or a t-shirt design from overseas and it always looked badass.

Latest works from Respect

Really like the works from Respect, here are his latest works...

The first one is actually the very first in a series I had planned out a long while ago. The series is called No Rest For The Wicked (NRFTW), and is nothing but custom fatcaps (a platform that doesn't seem to get much love). This was a gift for the woman who put me on to Fatcaps themselves and gave me some to initially start customizing on. I admit that it took me much too long to finish this piece, I guess I felt I had to get better and learn more before completing it. 

A quick brief on NRFTW, it's your typical "zombie" apocalypse scenario, chemicals released unknowingly into a small town. Spreading this horrible infection and keeping people from an eternal slumber regardless of how decayed / damaged they have become.  The main reason for NRFTW is for it to tie into a dunny series I have planned.

The second custom is based on the game StarCraft, more specifically one of its marine characters. This was done on a post apocalypse cyborg and I have intentions of making other characters from the game as well. I didn't do any sculpting on this piece as it was intended to be a break from sculpting...I know strange break haha. So I started off by sanding down the face of the helmet, removing the oculis ports and front vent, and then goin into finer sand papers until it was smooth as butter. This one found a new home before it was finished, and its well placed with its new owner.

Bruno Bear
Bruno Bear was a gambling bear. He was always ready for a bet. But he wasn’t a lucky bear... he never won! One day we were talking about tattoo’s and he told me that he always wanted a tattoo but never knew what to get. So I made a bet with him! I would pay for a butterfly-tattoo for us both if he could convince the tattoo-artist to tattoo the shop's name on his face... Bruno Bear was a gambling bear. Still no lucky bear but this time he won the bet! We now both have a butterfly-tattoo!

Sir Mumford Monopoly

Everybody knows Rich "Uncle" Pennybags (the guy on the Monopoly game) but nobody knows that Sir Mumford was the first mascot for Monopoly. He was replaced after a little Hotel accident...
After they left him alone with thel game he stole some of the hotels, took over the Western Train Station and held the shoe and the iron hostage. It took SWAT three days to get him and set the hostages free. Sir Mumford had to go straight to jail, he didn't pass start and he didn't collect the $200

Honey I shrunk my Twin Brother

Jason and Johnny were just like your average twin Voodoo priests... They did everything together! They eat together, sleep together, curse people together... they even dress the same. But one day something goes horribly wrong: Jason accidentally shrunk his brother to less then half his size...

Custom 3" Fatcap by PJ Constable

If you don't know who PJ Constable is, get to know this teen's art. PJ Constable is a young and talented UK based artist who continues to amaze people, including myself, with his unique and colorful characters. Getting invited to group shows left and right, PJ has a very unique style in my opinion. I first met PJ at Kidrobot London, during the 2012 Dunny release. A collector as well, PJ was there with his family for the artist signing and dunny series release. PJ brought with him a few customs he was working on, blogged about here, which turned out to be great art pieces once he was done painting them up. His recent completed work happens to be a 3" custom FatCap commission for another cool artist, Mike Die. The colors and sculpt on this piece look quite nice and I love the little details like the cracked pot and real toothpick. Mike is one lucky collector.

 As PJ continues to grow and create great pieces of art, he will undoubtedly be tasked with a long commission list, so get at PJ while you still can. Hopefully, he has time to squeeze you in. Keep in mind that PJ is still in school and creates in his spare time. I look forward to seeing more of PJ's work in the future, whether it'd be a part of a group show, custom commission or maybe even a solo show down the road, only time will tell.
