Mictecacihuatl by Tadeo Mendoza

A custom Dunny (7 inch) from some months ago, but never posted on this blog. Have to say that I like it so much, that I have to post it. Hope you guys dig it too!

Aztec godess of death, wife of Mictlantecuhtli, both ruled Mictlan, the 9o and last Aztec world of the dead. To this place went men and women who died from natural causes.

She was represented as a skeleton or aperson with skeletal head a defleshed body with a skirt of live serpents, with jaw agape to swallow the stars during the day

Her purpose was to keep the bones of the dead of past worlds, so they can be used to create the human of this world. She presided over the ancient festivals of the dead, which evolved from Aztec traditions into the modern Day of the Dead after synthesis with Spanish cultural traditions. Mictecacihuatl is known as the Lady of the Dead, since it is believed that she was born, then sacrificed as an infant, so she used to eat little infants in a sacrifice motive.
