Ever wondered what happened to the remaining stock of Arts Unknown vinyl art toys after AU closed up shop? Well, it appears that Gary Baseman has acquired the remaining Slugilicious pieces that he designed for Arts Unknown. There are many color variants of this figure, and Gary will be selling a new set of 2 color variants every week for the next 3 weeks:
For a LIMITED time each week starting Tuesday, 4/28, Baseman Studio will be releasing 6 different colorways of Sluglicious vinyl toys with SIGNED boxes on the Baseman webstore.
A set of two colorways will be released every week along with a special Spring sale deal: Buy 2 Sluglicious vinyl toys with SIGNED boxes for $150 (retails for $85 each)! This special price will only last for the week of each set release, so don’t miss out on this great deal!
The gold and silver colorways will be the first set release of the Slugilicious Spring sale. Stay tuned on Baseman’s Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for announcements on the next colorway releases.
Soo... what happened to those awesome steampunk Doktor A Bella Delameres? And what about the fun and whimsical Frank Kozik boxed set of William, Henry and Reginald?
I'll tell you what happened.
I bought them all.
Stay tuned to this blog for more info on our release dates (the stock is almost set up in our warehouse and when we finish that process, we will put them up for sale). You will find our prices VERY favorable. When they are up for sale, you will find them here. Might wanna join our email list now...

Multiple colorways of each of the following figures are available now on our Arts Unknown page: Doktor A's Bella Delamere figure (above and below); below that are Gary Baseman's Slugilicious figures; and then on the bottom are Frank Kozik's William, Henry & Reginald figure sets. Really beautiful figures by relative newcomer UK toy company Arts Unknown. AU is committed to producing high-quality limited-edition vinyl toys, and I believe there will be more figures coming to market very soon. Definitely a company to watch in 2015!

... a little backstory, care of Gary's recent newsletter...
Who are the WildGirls and ChouChous?
In the Forest of ChouChou live the WildGirls, ChouChous, and demons. While the demons create chaos in the forest, the WildGirls are forced to live a life without any joy or freedom. The ChouChous offer their love and attention to the WildGirls, taking away negative energy and hate from them by absorbing it and oozing it out as Creamy Gooey Love from their bellybuttons.
Once this happens, their bodies melt away and they are left with nothing but their heads. The only way a ChouChou's body can grow back is if he is kissed by a girl of pure love.
These prominent Baseman characters were specially featured in the exhibition, "Hide and Seek in the Forest of ChouChou," shown in 2007 at Billly Shire Fine Arts in Culver City, California. They have since appeared in Baseman's sketchbooks, paintings, and even live art performances.
The regular colorway available to retailers like us- the Beverly Edition seen in these pics- is available for preorder right now in our shop here for $70.

Hello Friends,
Some of you know about my Penchant for "Urban Vinyl", some of you don't.
Urban Vinyl is a kind of Art Movement; born from out of the time when Graffiti became art, Urban Vinyl has become what has been a perfect marriage between Street Art and Progress.
This art form finds only as many facets as the Imagination will allow.
My personal Favorite piece is the "Dumb Luck" Bunny, by Gary Baseman (to the left). It is the first piece I ever bought. As my collection waxes and wanes, it will also be the last piece I ever
let go of.
It looks like a Toy, doesn't it? Well, that's the Raw Fun of Urban Vinyl, ART in the form of a toy.
Produced in limited numbers and often in several 'Colorways' they are collectible and somewhat rare.
And look at this piece, look how proudly this Bunny shows off his 'Lucky Rabbit's Foot' despite
the peg leg he has acquired to procure this 'magical implement'. Dumb Luck indeed.
Another group making history with these toys is called COARSE TOYS. The figures are angular
and bring to mind an appreciation for the Cubist Movement.
Artist Mark Landwehr's vision is often obscure and his subject matter leaves many details about what any particular piece is saying up to the viewer.
And as you see here to the right, another Rabbit. Teddy Bears, Rabbits and other traditional toy subjects
have been reinterpreted by these different artists in many different ways. In Landwehr's work, where the human subject is actually in conflict with these childhood characters, there seems to be some suggestion in tow about the nature of growing up and developing the courage to question the status quo.
The movement has taken many directions and has been interpreted by Artists of many genre's.
It has also been a driving force at times in addressing Social Issues.
Here I am bringing to your attention the work of both Mark Landwehr and Sven Waschk. They have
created for Amnesty International three different candles, each burns down to reveal a Bronze Statue and
these candles, they are currently on auction on eBay. There are 10 of each piece.
Please click on the video below and watch the short by Amnesty International
and please, take the time today . . . to do something for someone else in the world.
Thank You,
Lawrence

Out from the shallow damp earth, comes the slithering Slugilicious. He takes his time, rushing for no one. Even if he looks like he is standing still, he is definitely tripping. Some people call him a homeless vermin. Some others call him a lazy hippie. Some people call him a space cowboy. Some call him the gangster of love. No matter where Sluggy goes, he always leaves his mark. The sidewalk is his canvas. He is the Lewis and Clark of the Mucus Trails.
Sluggy is designed by Gary Baseman and produced by Arts Unknown. This colorway is limited to only 100 pieces worldwide. Sluggy stands 8 inches talland is made of vinyl. Pick one up for $100 at the Tenacious Toy online store today.

It’s nice to see the UK having a bigger part in the designer toy world- we have a bunch of talented and amazing artists, and with UK companies collaborating and releasing pieces from some of the top names in the scene, there's never been a better time to be a UK artist.

After what seems like forever, it’s great to finally see some pics of these- especially the Doktor A piece. So far they look fantastic and a great price for something so limited. The Baseman and Kozik pieces are set to arrive in stores in July and the Doktor A piece sometime in August, be sure to check these out when they hit stores no doubt they’ll sell fast.

Arts Unknown has shared some awesome test shots of their brand new collaboration with 3 amazing artists! Above is the collaboration with Doktor A, a nice looking female robot with a nasty surprise behind her back. Below the first 2 pictures show the pieces designed by Frank Kozik, which is a safari style rhino and his trusted sidekick mini elephant. The very bottom picture which is my favorite of the 3 and is designed by Gary Baseman is the cute little worm with his tongue hanging out. All 3 designs are limited edition of 350 each. 1 out of 6 of each design will be a secret chase color way. Doktor A and Gary Baseman pieces will retail for $100 and Frank Kozik's piece will be $110. Tenacious Toys will be stocking all 3 of these and if you are interested in getting these for your collection, sign up for our email list!

The Buckingham Warrior is a defender of strong ideals and a stark reminder to the fragility of our own ecology. He is a deer who lives in symbiosis with the natural world and when forced to defend the natural order, the Buckingham Warrior can not be defeated.
The Wolyner Forest Warrior is the first incarnation of Buckingham, a righteous deer. The 12" figure was inspired by Gary Baseman's father, a Holocaust Survivor. Packaged in a closed satin finished box, this figure features multiple points of articulation and comes with severed head and sword accessories.

The first releases from newcomer Arts Unknown are looking strong, with pieces by Doktor A, Gary Baseman and Frank Kozik. Each piece is vinyl and around 8 inches tall, with a run size of 350 pieces. Each figure you see pictured will also have a randomly inserted chase colorway. No word on how rare those are, or indeed actual pics of the chases, but they'll be in there somewhere for a few lucky people.
