Sturnbrau and Sketchup Custom Dunny Set by Jon-Paul Kaiser

With Designer Con 2015 only a few weeks away, Jon-Paul Kaiser is still delivering commissioned pieces, while also prepping to make his trip over to California for DCON. Jon-Paul's latest custom set is a nautical themed custom Sturnbrau and Sketchup Dunny set. This older Captain Sturnbrau continues to gather more tattoos and new emblem on his hat, signs of the distances traveled in his ship, the Whispering Corsair. A nice companion piece to Captain Sturnbrau is the Sketchup Dunny, which shows a battle between a sperm whale and a giant Kraken-like squid. With the epic fight taking place within the confines of an old grog bottle, the ship that once sailed the seas lay sunken on the bed of the sea floor. Photos were taken by Justin Allfree, with more photos showing up on Jon-Paul Kaiser's social media pages. This set makes a nice pair and is a nice primer for those who are going to be attending DCon 2015. Jon-Paul is sure to bring along a lot of goodies with him. This is a one of a kind custom figure from Scott Kinnebrew. "Blackmetal Beard" is based on the Jon-Paul Kaiser Captain Sturnbrau figure.

Jon-Paul Kaiser Captain Sturnbrau black & white in stock

We're always extra-excited when a friend of the shop has a production toy released! In this case, British artist Jon-Paul Kaiser has been working with Toy2R on this original sculpt called Captain Sturnbrau. We hosted JPK for a signing at the NYCC booth we split with Toy2R last year. Our booth was the spot where this Sturnbrau piece was revealed for the first time. Captain Sturnbrau is the salty captain of the Whispering Corsair, commanding Nathaniel Vigo (his First Mate) as well as Olaf the Mute, both of which are also production Qees made by Toy2R.

If you've been eying up the JPK customs in our shop, but they're a little more than you want to spend right now, you can get the next best thing: a production toy with the same clean and detailed black & white paint work which JPK has become known for. Toy2R did a bang-up job on these pieces.

Jon-Paul Kaiser 5 inch Captain Sturnbrau Qee by Toy2R

Toy2R is pleased to offer this first look at Jon-Paul Kaiser's original 5" figure - Captain Sturnbrau from the mysterious ship, The Whispering Corsair.

Jon-Paul has created a unique collection of Toy2R figures using the mythos of the Whispering Corsair to amass his crew. First fans were introduced to the Olaf the Mute (in 8" Qee Bear form), then teasers of the the First Mate Nathaniel Vigo surfaced (in 5" Mini Qee form), now to be followed by their leader, Captain Sturnbrau!

Expected for release at this year's New York Comic Con, Toy2R unveiled the figure at the Grand Opening ceremony of the new Toy2R Shunde office in China. This is the first original production character for Jon-Paul and Toy2R is honored to have collaborated on this project. While there are even more projects being developed for JPK (The Forgotten and The Scribe Mini Qees), the Whispering Corsair collection is a wonderful tribute to the high seas and the mysterious that lie beneath the surface. Expect more surprises surrounding the Captain as the more information develops!
