Plaseebo at The Art of the Toy Exhibit at MOAH

On Saturday July 18th, 2015, the Museum of Art and History in Lancaster, CA will open an exhibit called "The Art of The Toy". The show is going to host a number of art toys, representing a wide range of different artists. Plaseebo will have 2 pieces in the exhibit. The first is "After Hieronymus Bosch”. Featuring a one of kind custom hand cast resin piece, which has inset red eyes and a color-changing LED unit. 

Plaseebo's second piece is "Mummy Gnaw X 1". Using a Plaseebo "Gnaw" head, mounted on a Skull Head Butt "X" body, Plaseebo added red glass inset eyes, fabric wrap and a color-changing LED unit. Both pieces are a good representation of Plaseebo's work and for those in the area of Lancaster, be sure to head on down and check out the exhibit.

The Truth About Pinnochio Exhibit at GKO Gallery presented by Art Toy Gama Collective

From November 22, 2014 until November 29th, 2014, Art Toy Gama Collective presents "The Truth About Pinocchio" at the GKo Art Gallery in Tolosa, Spain. This week long exhibition features works from artists all around the world, influenced by the classic Disney character Pinocchio. The exhibition coincides with the International Puppet Festival ("Titirijai 2014"), which seems a fitting time, considering the art is influenced by one of the most famous puppets in the world. Here are just a few examples of both 2D and 3D representations of what is going to be in the Exhibition, but everyone should head on over to the Art Toy Gama Collective Facebook page and check out all of the other pieces.

As promoter of the Exhibition is one emerging Collective born with the purpose of promoting the artistic movement of the Art Toys in all its aspects: Art Toy Gama Collective. A group of artists, with different backgrounds and professional experiences, all Spanish speakers from Spain, Chile, Colombia and Argentina, and linked to the Movement or tendency in contemporary design based in Artwith Toys – Antu, Judas Arrieta, Artefacto Inc., La Maison de Mageritdoll and César Zanardi. With the ambition of celebrate and participate Artistic Projects - and other activities - associated with Art Toys and with the intention of getting involved with international artists.”

Gallery Show: "Sideshow" and Real Live at Stranger Factory

Stranger Factory is having two exhibits for the month of August. In the main gallery, Stranger Factory co-owner Kathie Olivas curated the exhibit called "Sideshow", a group show featuring works from Kathie Olivas, Jessica Joslin, Brandan Styles, Desiree Fessler, Valency Genis, Seymour (Peter Kelk), DrilOne, and Phil Noto. "Sideshow" brings the circus to life with artists creating original drawings, paintings, sculptures and customs. Artwork can be purchased online via email from now through Monday August 4th. Be sure to check out the online preview of some amazing work, like the Feejee Mermaid by Daniel Talone.

Also at the Stranger Factory, Leecifer is having a show titled "Real Live", which is going to be shown in the Project Room at Stranger Factory. Leecifer is going to have his Pixie Wisps, as well as a ton of customized figures and sculptures. His work will feature a brighter color palette, with a weathered feel to it. With so many different sculptures and figures, there is something for everyone in Leecifer's show. 

Be sure to email ASAP if you want to secure a piece from either of the shows. 

For those in the Albuquerque area, the opening reception for both shows will take place on August 1st, from 6pm to 9PM at Stranger Factory. Attendees can expect to see some of the artists in attendance.

Season of Spring exhibition by Daniel Rolnik at the Flower Pepper Gallery

The Season of Spring - Flower Pepper Gallery

Daniel Rolnik, The Worlds Most Adorable Art Critic, was on Toy Break Episode 299, showing off some items he is showing at a current exhibit at the Flower Pepper Gallery in Old Pasedena. Daniel Rolnik is an art lover who blogs for many different sites, just so he can reach the appropriate crowd for every type of art genre. The Seasons of Sprint exhibit, curated by Daniel, centers around a neat idea in which Daniel sends all participating artists, an artist pack. Each cardboard envelope contained 2 pieces of quality paper and instructions for the artist to provide original pieces. One piece would be shown in a clear poly bag and header card, while the second piece(hidden behind the first) would be a surprise for the person who purchases the piece. A really great idea and pretty open ended. Some artists decided to forgo the provided paper and instead, create some really cool sculptures. All the pieces in the exhibit range in price from $20 to $200, which is pretty affordable for Original pieces of art.

An art collective, Salao Coboi, also provided sculptures for the exhibit, both of which can be seen in Toy Break 299. These pieces are pretty amazing and thought provoking to say the least. Salao Coboi started out as mutant art collective, but has since become a solo endeavor for Apolinário Pereira, co-founder of Salao Coboi.
