In real terms, here is an example: I just shipped a Horvath 5" Bossy Bear (+ a free tokidoki Moofia) to a customer in Singapore using Fedex Express Priority for $15.00!
That is WAY, WAY lower than the rates we were getting before. Of course we are passing the savings on to you. Since we have a live shopping cart that talks to the Fedex servers to get rates, our international buyers will now see several different low-priced Fedex options as shipping choices during checkout.
Oh and don't forget, we are still throwing in a free Mechtorians Sir Shilling Copperpenny with every $30+ order for another 3 days, till April 30th, so get your orders in now!
That's awesome news.
ReplyDeleteThe question is if FedEx will continue to charge handling fees from the recipient? Cause if the will, this recent change won't be really useful.
Fedex has never charged handling fees to the recipient. However, each country charges importers (customers) taxes (or duties or VAT or whatever your country calls it). When Fedex brings a packages into your country, Fedex pays your government the taxes and duties that it requires by law. Then Fedex must collect the taxes it just paid from you, the recipient.
ReplyDeleteSo when Fedex sends you a bill after you receive a shipment, it is NOT a handling charge. It is the charge for the taxes that your government collects when you import the item into your country from overseas. Hope that explains it!
