Five Points Festival is proud to present the culmination of Brutherford Industries and Kean University’s partnership toy project, the OTTO
Brutherford Industries, headed by industrial designer Ryan Rutherford, has teamed up with the students of the Industrial design program at Kean University to engage and inspire the next generation of product and toy designers.
Five Points Festival, a designer toy, street, and alternative art festival is excited to announce an amazing partnership, working with the next generation to further their education.
Students of the industrial design program, under Professor Ryan Rutherford in the Robert Busch School of Design within the Michael Graves College at Kean University, have been working hard to create a marketable, well designed character, to produce and sell in a real-world experience model. The character they created, titled OTTO, was then sculpted in clay and molded in silicone. Five Points Festival is excited to have partnered with the program to provide exhibition space for the students to create and sell their goods LIVE!
Professor Ryan Rutherford, with over fifteen years of industry experience, and the creator of more than 85 patents, is responsible for one of the best selling dog toys of all time; Cuz! He is also the recipient of the 2012 Designer Toy Award for Best Self Produced designer toy, the incredibly popular Ice Scream Man.
As such a prominent figure in the industrial design, and the designer toy world, Rutherford understands the importance of teaching the next generation of designers. As a professor at Kean University he has been imparting the values of good design on his students. Their course will culminate with a live demonstration at the 2nd Annual Five Points Festival, in Brooklyn NY!
Guests to Five Points Festival will be able to experience the process - from the spark of an idea to buyer ready product. Pieces will be made to order using Brutherford Industries roto-casting technology and packaged right before your eyes!
