Mini Spider Bot by DeeTen

"The mini spider bot was not the perfect machine for assassination or various other means of stealthy espionage. But that did not stop it from seeing wide usage. However, now obsolete, they make marvelous decor pieces! There are different models with the same basic design. Differences vary from body type to five or four coil engines; the pictured bot has a five coil engine. Each spider bot is for display only and has been indefinitely deactivated due to their destructive nature. Some even poisoned the wrong targets with their laced belly stingers.

Straight from new custom toy designer DeeTen come these mini spider bots. Each one embodies both the cuteness and deadliness you would expect from former objects of destruction. Limited to a run of only 10 pieces, these are going to go fast. Eight of these are a red colorway while two are a limited pink colorway. They are available now for $150 a piece at DeeTen's store. Check out more pictures after the jump.

Each order consists of:
1 Spider Bot: Random model of specified color
1 Glass Dome + Base Display

Specs:
Dome + base height - 6.5"
Base with - 6.75''
Spider bot approx 5.5'' wide
Spider height approx 4" tall

Did I mention that KAIJU ZANGA IS COMING!?!  Here's what you need to know: 2 pounds of vinyl.  8+ points of articulation.  Max Toy Co. members will get first crack by lottery, anything left will be out to the general public.

Update: Just got word that all of the first wave are sold out.  Pre-orders for the painted version will be posted soon.

Update to the update: Mark over at Max Toy confirmed by tweet that the painted price will be $175 + $12 domestic shipping.  He also said that pre-orders start tomorrow (8/24) at the Max Toy Co. site so keep an eye out (remember he is in Pacific time zone)!

Those who know me know that my kaiju tastes are very particular and it takes a lot to impress me.  Well, color me impressed.  Design, engineering and execution are out of this world.  A big congrats to Mark Nagata for making this happen and other sofubi folks out there - I think a new bar has been set.

Wonkabot & Umpa Dunpa by Ian Ziobrowski

One of the most amazing custom Mascots I have ever seen. Just speechless! Ian Ziobrowski (Nugglife) did a hell of a job on this set.

Ian Ziobrowski:
Here's my new commission "Wonkabot & Umpa Dunpa", which are custom 7 inch Kidrobot Mascot, and 3 inch Dunny.  With the inspiration provided by the client, we came up with a concept that expresses the evil side of Willy Wonka.  Growing up hes always creeped me out, with his fluctuating personalities.  Everything about him from the ongoing trickery to the weird stares of evil, it would always make me wonder what kind of person he really was. After going back an forth, and really studying his personality, I finally came up with a sketch. Here's my Evil Wonkabot, next time your at the candy store just remember those little sweet bags of evil can be mind blowing!

Just epic!

Arts Unknown Update: Doktor A Bella

We recently blogged about the Arts Unknown release including some prototypes of Doktor A's Bella,  well now we have some pics of the finished colorways and well as you can see they look fantastic.

Standing at 8” tall and with a retail of $100, each piece has a run of 350 pieces, including a one in six chase colorway and a members-only colorway.

I'm a huge Doktor A fan so to see a finished colorway and to see it done so well is exciting, I just hope the level of detail and quality can be kept up across the whole release. And for people wondering: the bloody colorway of Bella is not just plain white - half the parts are matte white and the other half are gloss white.

Kidrobot NY will be hosting ART WARS: A New Hope on October 11th, 2012 from 6:00 - 10:00 PM.  (For those keeping track, that is the first night of New York Comic Con.)

Scott Kinnebrew and Jason Chalker are serving up an evening of Star Wars themed customs and 2D art.  The Tenacious Toys Blogging Crew had to shut down the trash compactors on the detention level and pay a pretty penny to a certain Mandalorian but we managed to get exclusive shots of a few of the customs AND the information that there will be TRADING CARDS!
