Adam Quesnell's DESPAIR

by

After more than a year of development from start to finish, Adam Quesnell announced the release of his first limited edition mini-figure, Despair!

Despair is a demon from the 10th Circle of Hell; the level where people who make bad cinematic adaptations of classic toy properties are flayed for eternity. Not your average demon, Despair suffers from severe anxiety disorder and crippling depression.

Satan himself banished Despair from Hell for being a major bummer.

Cast out upon the earth in a fiery geyser of lava and tears, Despair landed in the parking lot of a comedy club that was hosting a weekly open mic night. Despair put his name on the sign-up sheet, got on stage, and told his story. Since then, he has been punishing himself, night after night, on comedy stages of varying quality throughout the Midwest. He dances and lashes himself for audiences with hopes of selling t-shirts and CDs to drunk people who will not wear or listen to them.

The figures will be available at 6:66pm (cst) on Halloween at faqcomedy.bigcartel.com in Marbled Orange and Blue (20), Stealth (10), GiD (10), Neon Green (20), Neon Purple, (20), Neon Orange (20), Hot Pink (20), Flesh (20), Red (15) and Blue (20). They won't be sold blind, so first come first serve. A Red and Black Marbled colorway will be released at a later date at standupcrap.com.

Additionally, we'll have a very limited run of exclusive Tenacious Toys blue Despairs in the near future.  We'll post more info on those as it appears.

One-Eyed Girl's entries into November 1 The Burton Show at Rothick Art Haus

by
"Little Pee Wee," a Custom Micro Munny who i just imagine making that dumb famous laugh.

One of my favorite new/up & coming custom toy artists, One-Eyed Girl (Kasey), writes to us:

I have some new pieces to share!  These guys are all going to be on display and for sale at Popzilla Gallery's "The Burton Show" opening Nov 1 at Rothick Art Haus.  Some of my favorite all time movies are Tim Burton so i was thrilled to be a part of this show.

Two Beetlejuice inspired pieces.  Easily top 5 favorite movies ever, and i want to make every character from the movie.  Started with only two, but maybe in the future there will be more!  "Betelgeuse," a Custom Mini Munny with a sandworm stuck to his head.  And "Harry The Hunter," a full sized Munny body with sculpted head and clothes.  You know, the shrunken head guy in the waiting room!

"Martian One-Eyed Girl,"  a 3D 8"x10" painting of easily the best and creepiest character of Mars Attacks. Sculpted with Magic sculpt and a glass eye.

INCOMING: Gary Baseman Wild Girls: Beverly Edition

by
... a little backstory, care of Gary's recent newsletter...

Who are the WildGirls and ChouChous?
In the Forest of ChouChou live the WildGirls, ChouChous, and demons. While the demons create chaos in the forest, the WildGirls are forced to live a life without any joy or freedom. The ChouChous offer their love and attention to the WildGirls, taking away negative energy and hate from them by absorbing it and oozing it out as Creamy Gooey Love from their bellybuttons.

Once this happens, their bodies melt away and they are left with nothing but their heads. The only way a ChouChou's body can grow back is if he is kissed by a girl of pure love.

These prominent Baseman characters were specially featured in the exhibition, "Hide and Seek in the Forest of ChouChou," shown in 2007 at Billly Shire Fine Arts in Culver City, California. They have since appeared in Baseman's sketchbooks, paintings, and even live art performances.

The regular colorway available to retailers like us- the Beverly Edition seen in these pics- is available for preorder right now in our shop here for $70.

Mildiu Custom Wandering Misfit by Godhay Toys

by
Barcelona based artist Jaume Bertran, aka Godhay Toys, recently completed a Wandering Misfit Kuma Skelve custom titled "Mildiu". Painted using acrylics, with matte and gloss varnish, the completed piece has some amazing details for such a small figure. The skull portion of the custom seems to represent a nice tile mosaic, while the rest of the figure has a bit more simple design. Be sure to check out more of Jaume's work on his Behance page.

King Candy and Wreck it Ralph custom Vinylmation by Rask Opticon

by

Artist Rask Opticon creates some amazing figures and art. Rask Opticon's latest revealed completed commission is based on the movie Wreck It Ralph. Creating both morphed King Candy and Wreck It Ralph, Rask Opticon used a couple of Vinylmation figures to complete the duo. While Ralph is pretty much an amazingly painted Vinylmation figure, King Candy (more specifically the body) is pretty much entirely sculpted from scratch. The end result is an amazing pair of figures that should make a collector very happy.
