Quetzalcoatl 8" Custom Dunny by The Beast Brothers

by
The Beast Brothers recently released information regarding an 8" Custom figure based on their 2007 Kidrobot Azteca I Dunny design, the Quetzalcoatl Dunny. Rather than wait for KR to make a move to create this wonderful design, the Beast Brothers decided to make it themselves. If you don't already subscribe to the Beast Brothers newsletter, be sure to sign up so you get all the up to date information for anything Beast Brothers.

From The Beast Brothers site:
The Quetzalcoatl Dunny was the most coveted mini figure of the 2007 Kidrobot Dunny Azteca series. And now The Beast Brothers are set to release their Quetzalcoatl design for the first time as an 8” custom figure.
This amazing sculpt is one of the most elaborate and detailed to date, hand painted and donning a faux leather poncho, each piece will come safely packaged in a laser engraved wooden box.

Starting Friday, June 21st at 1pm EST, you will have only 24 hours to purchase this unique and rare custom figure for only $450

All sales are final.
Like many previous releases before this one, the Beast Brothers have decided to make this custom figure available as a limited release, open for only 24 hours, starting Friday June 21st at 1PM EST. This means that the run size will depend on how many people actually make a purchase, with the final run size never being released. With the price set at $450 plus shipping, I can see many collectors freaking out, since the money drain known as SDCC is just weeks away. Any collector who picks up this piece will sure be glad he/she did.

RAMPAGE TOYS and ART: B.A.S.T.A.R.D.s - Sofubi & Keshi Mania!

by
I am super impressed with the growth of the Rampage Toys brand. Since Jon moved to Japan, he's been blowing it out of the water with sofubi production, collab projects with the biggest artists in the game, and just a dizzying array of awesome collectible toys. Check his blog for all kinds of fun updates:

A Notable Moment in American Kaiju?

by
Paul Kaiju just sent an update this morning that his collab SEAGOOL piece with Luke of Lulubell is now being sold via Medicom (in Japan) as an exclusive. Apparently this piece was made by Paul Kaiju and painted by Luke. I am really not a kaiju expert so I don't know if American kaiju has been exported to Japan before (and to be fair, I don't even know if Paul physically makes these pieces on American soil)... but it's worth mentioning in that it seems American kaiju artists are being recognized by Japanese companies to the point that they'll go to the trouble of importing the American-designed toys.
Kaiju nerds, is this a common practice? First I've heard of it.

Seen on the net: Hello Kitty x Uglydoll crossover

by

Call it a convergence of cute. Sanrio and Pretty Ugly have embarked on a two-year co-branding deal that will see their IPs, Hello Kitty and Uglydoll, merge to create a limited-edition line of collectibles, which are set to debut at San Diego Comic-Con next month, with a sneek-peak for Licensing Show goers planned next week.

Two years in the making, the collaboration is rolling out with a set of plush from Gund that features the iconic feline dressed up as popular Uglydoll characters, along with a set of vinyl figures by Funko. Also exclusive to Comic-Con attendees will be co-branded t-shirts (Mighty Fine), iPhone cases (Uncommon) and a collectible pin set (PinUSA). The Gund plush, along with other items, will then roll out to US specialty retailers later this summer.

"Mara, circa 1886" custom Munny by DeeTen

by
STUNNING!!!

I present to you "Mara, circa 1886". Her base is a 7'' Munny, made with fabric, wood, clay, and metal. She will be available at deeten.storenvy.com for $450. She stands 10.5'' tall, 6.5'' wide and 5'' in depth.

Story:
During the expedition of 1886 into our only known parallel world our expedition toured the 13 Great Cities. Our expedition team was given this statue of the deity Mara, Goddess of Wealth and Guardian of the 6 paths, while at the city hidden city of Cleopatra. The city's golden spires and towers in a valley surrounded by towering mountain ranges was a sight to behold. These statues were present in many of the local businesses and places of gathering while our team explored the wonders the city had to offer. It was said that burning money inside of the statue's stove stomach would bring wealth in forms other than material. Burning other items would result in different outcomes. One of our explorers took a chance and immediately reached an epiphany in her science and technology studies. Our group was also taken to a large Mara carving nearly as tall as the mountain range it was carved into it. The mountain range was stated to be the tallest in their world and below the carving were six enormous stone archways leading into its depths. Officials told the explorers these paths were forbidden and sealed to protect the city, from what, they never answered. Locals however told them of legends that the paths led to 6 temples scattered in the reaches of the vast mountain range. The temples are legends themselves, since only one of the six paths had ever been explored. The Kuma Path led to the edge of a canyon that must have been several miles deep with the opposing cliff even farther than the canyon was deep and. Out of the mist that shrouded the other cliff a single golden spire could be seen reaching into the sky. Nothing like it had ever been seen in their world or ours for that matter. Expeditions trying to cross the canyon never returned thus deeming the paths too treacherous as half of the citizens of Cleopatra tried and failed. Weather in the mountain ranges were supernaturally unpredictable and harsh. Air ships tried only to be torn apart, even the Floating City of Alexandria suffered enough damage to begin losing it's altitude and turn back. The arches were sealed off still yet to be explored. Our explorers noted that local superstition believed the 6 path temples could each access a different realm, the most commonly mention being heaven and hell. The explorer that tested the deity statue suggested one temple might even access our own realm.
