Rat Fink's Revenge- an Ed Roth Tribute Show at La Luz de Jesus in LA

by

Ed "Big Daddy" Roth (March 4, 1932 - April 4, 2001) was an artist, cartoonist, pinstriper, custom car designer and builder who created the hot-rod icon Rat Fink and other extreme characters. Roth was a key figure in Southern California's Kustom Kulture and hot-rod movement of the late 1950s and 1960s and is one of the fathers of Lowbrow Art. He turned the automobile into a moving sculpture and through his hot-rod-art and cartoon character Rat Fink inspired and helped launch the careers of artists such as Robert Williams and Rick Griffin. In the decades that have passed, Roth's original fans have grown up to become artists, filmmakers, mechanics, and executives. Roth has become an action figure, a bobble head, and has achieved timeless cult status along the way. At first it may have seemed that Rat Fink was originally drawn for us to laugh at, as ephemera.  Now he's the one laughing. Rat Fink's Revenge indeed!

This collection of 40 Rat Fink statues is taken from the book Rat Fink's Revenge, compiled by David Chodosh with Ken Morgan and Michael Polis. The project originated as a way for the author and contemporary artists to exorcize their inner Fink-the sick monster inside that needs to come out and show itself to the world. All the contributors, for whom Rat Fink is part of their soul, were given the same foot tall resin model kit to customize.

La Luz de Jesus in partnership with David Chodosh, is proud and honored to present this collection based on Ed Roth's most notorious Custom Monster featuring Kustom Finks by Anthony Ausgang, Glenn Barr, COOP, Ron English, Natalia Fabia, Mark Mothersbaugh, KRK Ryden and many others.

by
This is the workshop of Brooklyn toy designer Teru Fujita. Teru's Androids, 3-inch mechanical wonders with LED eyes, will be available for purchase in one hour (dropping at 4PM EST on May 12th). Limited to just 8, Teru will never make any of these again. He does not like to repeat himself. A totally different project is already underway!

The Godbeast Glyos Armorvor Bio Infection Preview

by

The Godbeast has previewed his next official head for the Glyos-compatible Armorvor figure. Sculpted by TGB based on sketches from Glyos creator Matt Doughty, these Bio Infection pieces fit into a theme already built on with earlier resin Bio-Jumper creatures and Infection figures, such as the clear red Infection Armorvor released at C2E2 this past month. Part of what makes Glyos so great is the continuing storyline and great amount of thought put into every sculpt and colorway. As a collector, you can choose to dive right into it, or ignore it completely while making up your own stories and characters.

No word yet on how soon they will be available or exactly how, but TGB will most certainly be dropping more info on one of his pages or at the October Toys Forum shortly.

Haganenokiba Dunny by Artmymind

by
One of the best Dunny's I have seen to date, totally mindblowing!
"The Haganenokibas represent the elite of the Thousand fangs, and among them, the High Guard serves as the personal escort of the Commander Owatatsumi. Very best of their kind, they master the Polearm with agility and power at a point that it is said that none of them ever fell in combat. The rare who survived an encounter with one of them can recall with fear the destructive fury that they can lay on the battleground." Limited edition of 20 handcrafted figures.

Mega Munny Shadowling By Shadoe Delgado

by

Shadoe Delgado has been busy cooking up some big big sculpture! One of which, his first Mega Munny, is this Mega Shadowling.

Created for Oakland Museum's Exhibition "We Customize", Shadoe has applied a whole lot of custom sculpting in those teeth and texturing. Along with a big, and very real, set of antlers. Most of the sculpting took place over the weeks leading up to Shadoe's on-site demo in residency, where he showed off his paint application techniques.

The Exhibit stays up until June 2, when this big fella will go up in Shadoe's shop, with a return to commission work in June. Though, we've heard there is a bit of a list, which is not suprising from a DesignerToyAwards Break Through Artist Nominee. Inquire a piece at shadoedelgado@gmail.com

Argonauts Resin presents Adam Pratt customs

by
This Tuesday (May 14) at 10 p.m. Eastern Argonauts Resin will be releasing custom 8" Tuttz and mini Tuttz from artist Adam Pratt who has also been signed to be part of Argonaut Resins new creative team.

First up is the Sekhmet Rising - a 8 inch Tuttz with a cracked design that sits in a bed of clear tint orange lava colored resin.

The second 8 inch Tuttz is the Armored Golem MK.1 battlefield cat with worn metal paint work.

The other half of the release will feature a all new set of the Tuttz Begining's tomb (set #3 and set #4) with Egyptian workers that are very different from the previous two versions that were released. Each set will come with micro workers, loose scaffolding and a bag of sand so the collector can arrange the diorama the way they want.

Make sure to check the Argonauts Resin store out when they release next week.
